The Great BIg Green week and how the Friends embrace the ideas throughout the year. In september we will be doing our sponsoured Litter pick again. The kids love finding all the strange URO's - unidentifiable rubbish object!

KSM friends is supporting The Great Big Green Week by sharing some of the ways throughout the year we encourage green swaps.
Like these recipes - swapping more traditional recipes for tasty ones that are also plant based.

These delights sold out at last years fete and if you cant wait till Saturday 13th July for their reappearance at this years fete, then they may be at the Sports day cake sale on 20th June or try them yourself. Yummy, plus a making and eating favourite with the kids.

Come Get Involved!!

The KSM Friends need volunteers to join us to help get everything ready for a fantastic School Fete. Its our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need support to make it happen.

Did you know… it takes 2720 litres of water to make one t-shirt - that’s the same amount of water as you would drink in a year! And if we could extend the life of clothes by just 9 months of active use can reduce their carbon footprint and water footprint by 20-30%.

The fashion industry produces 3.3billion tonnes of CO2 per year - almost matching the carbon footprint of the entire European Union.

Wow they are some crazy numbers!!!

But the great news is that without crazy price tags KSM Friends help sell second hand or pre-loved school uniform to help do our bit for the planet, keeping costs down for parents and raising money for the fun things at the school. AMAZING!

Now with the extra bonus it is all on scopay. Meaning you can buy online and The Friends will deliver the uniform to the school. So if you need that next size up - check out scopay first.

Any outgrown school uniform can be donated to the school office and we will collect it and add to the stock list on scopay.

Thank you for all the support with raising money - with recent events like The Quiz Night, Break the Rule, Non-School uniform day and ongoing fundraisers like the Preloved uniform sales and Party kit hire we have recently agreed with the school to fund £2000 towards new equipment, resources and experiences across the school. If you would like to be more involved with the fundraising or have ideas on ways to support the school then please get in touch with the Friends.

Thank you so much for all those people who donated jumpers and those who picked ’new’ ones. It was great fun and we sold out of sizes very quickly! Sorry to anyone who was hoping for a jumper but didn’t get an option in their size, we will hope for even more donations next year.

We think it will be a great event to run again so please consider holding onto those Xmas jumpers ready for an even bigger school sale next year… think we might branch out to include other Christmas themed clothing because… ‘The More The Merrier’ 😂

but did you know in the UK we spend over 220million a year on Christmas jumpers and 1 in 4 end up being thrown away?!

Lets come together and do something positive - positive for the school, the planet and great fun.

We are asking you to get involved in our first Christmas jumper sale. It works by people donating jumpers to the school office before the 5th Dec, Then join us on the 5th for the kids to pick a 'new to them' jumper as a donations only event (suggested £2)

Whats a great start to the festive season

Were doing another Uniform sale! Tuesday 14th November alongside the Book Fayre... books and preloved uniform together, a great combination for parents.

Fingers crossed we will also be there on Monday 20th November as well to give people good opportunities to give these clothes even more KSM love.

Pre-Loved school uniform sale will be on at the School around the Bedtime Stories evening this Thursday 2nd November. Look forward to seeing some of you there!

Your also welcome to drop any unwanted but good condition uniform off at the same time.

Well done and thank you all for taking part

We recently teamed up with the Parents and Friends Group at Kington St Michael's Primary School and our contractor Idverde, to embark on a 10-day litter pick.

The families that took part in the litter picks had great fun in the local community. They put on their high-vis jackets and grabbed their litter pickers many times over the fortnight period, to clean up the streets in and around Kington St Michael Village. Idverde, lent the litter picking kits to parents and children so they could get involved safely.

The pupils were sponsored by friends and families for their efforts and collectively raised over £120 for the school's charity. Over 12kg of rubbish was collected in large black bags.

Great effort by all involved, well done! 🚮

Non School Uniform Day - This Thursday, hope all the kids enjoy

The Schools Litter Pick competition starts tomorrow - everyone can get involved. Contact the Friends if you would like to borrow a litter picking kit (adult and children sized litter pickers, adult and children high via jackets, gloves, black bin bags and bag holders). Then go find rubbish anytime over the next 10 days…

Some fun wordsearch and litter tally/colour in sheets available as a resource if your children want to be more involved.

The plan is to collect sponsourship for the KSM friends charity which support the school and all children that get involved will be entered into a competition to win a family swim voucher at the Olympiad.

Cleaning up our community, raising money and having fun - great idea!
