Dear Frieth resident,
We would usually put flyers through the doors this week but in a bid to reduce paper could I ask you all to circulate this via word of mouth please. We will still flyer the cars on Frieth Hill on Saturday morning as a gentle reminder.
It’s Frieth Hilly race week. After a two year hiatus we are back and this will be the 13th edition and it’s our intention to put on another great race that gets runners coming back for more. In 2019 we raised more than £8,500 for the school; all of this funded projects that directly benefit the children.
This coming Sunday the 2022 race will take place starting at the School at 10am. The runners will head off from outside the school towards Innings Road & Shogmoor Road and complete the race (through Fingest, Skirmett and Parmoor) before tackling Frieth Hill and back into the school.
We are very keen to minimise disruption to the residents of Frieth but there will be additional traffic in the village before and after the race (8-10am and 11-12noon). To maximise the flow of traffic at these times and to make the hill as safe as possible for the runners, we would politely ask that you avoid parking on Frieth Hill for the evening of Saturday 15th October and the morning of Sunday 16th October.
To encourage the runners, and to entertain the spectators, we will have a PA system at the school. To minimise the disruption, this will not commence before 9am and will be completed by 1pm (latest). The school and wider community really appreciate your support in this matter.
More information about the race, can be found at www.friethhilly.co.uk, but if you have any specific queries about the parking or the race generally, then please do get in touch with me on (Will Richards) 07887948628 or via [email protected]
If you wish to come along and see the runners off, or their return (from 10.20am!) then we'd be delighted - there will be refreshments (BBQ, tea, coffee and cakes) on sale at the village hall and all are welcome.
Kind regards
The Frieth Hilly Committee
