π₯ Silver DofE - Day 3 π₯
A huge well done to the 34 students who successfully passed their assessed expedition this weekend and also to the 4 students who passed their practice expedition. Overall, it was quite a tough weekend with two days of high temperatures followed by a rather rainy day today. All students involved did an amazing job today, battling the elements to make it to their final destination, despite being soaked by the end. A huge thank you to all of the staff involved including; SRMS staff members and Kent DofE staff and volunteers (plus Millie and Betsy πΆ). A big well done to all of the students and good luck to those undertaking their assessed expedition later on this year! π₯π£βΊοΈ
π₯ Silver DofE - Day 2 π₯
The day started super sunny and finished pretty damp! Another hot and humid day but all groups arrived at camp in good time. Lots of excellent navigation skills and some great team work. Students were briefed in preparation for a possible storm (we couldn't have picked two better weekends βοΈ) but think the rain we've just had could be it for the night. A few rumbles but all safely tucked up. A little rain is predicted tomorrow but hopefully it'll be the welcomed cooler weather of the weekend. Over half way now, one day of walking to go! ππΌπ£π₯

π₯ Silver Assessed Expedition - Day 1 π₯
Well done to our 38 year 10 students who embarked on their Silver assessed expedition today. Despite it being a very hot day, the students all made it back in one piece! 1 day down, 2 to go ππΌπ£π₯
Where to begin! The students have done themselves so, so proud today after very broken sleep. The resilience shown by these young people has been outstanding. After what can only be described as the worst DofE storm seen by Manwood's students, they got themselves up and out so quickly this morning. We are pleased to say that all of our students have passed their Bronze expedition section. They certainly deserve the rest this evening. Thank you so much to the SRMS staff and Kent DofE staff who worked together to produce such a smooth-running weekend, well done to everybody, staff and students alike π₯βοΈππΌππ£
βοΈ DofE Update βοΈ - feel free to update parents who are not on Facebook!
A message to keep parents in the loop in regards to the intense thunder storm we experienced at around 1.45am. Students had been briefed, following advice from Kent DofE, before bed last night to remain in the their tents should we experience any stormy weather. Despite the incredibly loud thunder the students we excellent and did as they were told. Staff members have been out checking on students this past hour and albeit a little shaken up in places, they are all doing really well, some a little damp but we hope for some better weather as the morning draws in.
π₯ Bronze DofE - Day 1 π₯
A huge well done to the 91 students who battled a real mixture of weather today to make it to camp. One minute it was brilliant sunshine the next minute waterproofs were needed. The students enjoyed hearing some live music before bed too! Time to sleep, 1 day down, 1 to go ππΌ
Congratulations to the U13 Athletics Squad who won the Duke of Yorkβs Invitational Cup ππ»π
π₯ Gold DofE Presentations π₯
Miss Deveson was fortunate enough to receive an invite to Buckingham Palace last Friday for a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award ceremony. There were 14 students receiving their award across the 4 ceremonies last week. Miss Deveson bumped into Theo (2020 leaver) and Elissa (current year 13) who throughly enjoyed the day. It was great to see the newly appointed Duke of Edinburgh and guest speakers including; Susannah Townsend and John Simpson. Congratulations to all who received awards last week including James (current year 13) who attended the Palace on Monday alongside other current and ex-Manwoodians π
Congratulations to Miss Deveson!!! Who was awarded Dover and Folkestone District PE Teacher of the Year ππ»
π₯ Silver DofE - Day 3 π₯
A huge well done to the 33 students who have successfully completed their practice expedition (along with two students who completed theirs over Easter). The sun shone brightly today and spirits were high! It was an excellent weekend in all and everyone navigated brilliantly! We look forward to the same success at the assessed expedition in July. We hope the students enjoy some rest tomorrow and get a chance to catch up on the Coronation excitement from the weekend π¬π§
π₯ Silver DofE - Day 2 π₯
All 6 groups have returned to camp after a long day. Tents are up and food is cooking. Despite the damp weather today, spirits have been high! Lots of bunting was seen out and about too π¬π§

A huge well done to our year 9 students who completed their practice expedition this weekend. The weather was better than expected on the Saturday with students out quickly on the Sunday to beat putting tents down in the rain. We had 15 groups of students as well as 3 groups joining us from DGSB. All students are eligible to progress to their assessed expedition in June. Well done to all involved! ππ£
