Problem-solving. Over time you can come across problems while teaching and delivering boats. Well, any kind of boating from dinghy to sailboats/ motor boats to superyachts.
Please can you share what you have come across and what you did to remedy it if you could..?
For example.
Older boat on a delivery, Fuel tanks were now down to under half tank, and we came into a rough sea area.
1st sign was a waving rev counter and surging power .
Then a drop in power,
Rev counter is now showing just above tick over.
No change to revs when throttles moved forward.
Diverted to nearest safe haven.
Investigation of the fuel supply, bad case of diesel bug showing in primary filter.
Cleaned out filters and changed them.
Did a sea trial, went ok.
Fueled up , then changed filters again as slight diesel bug was seen and left on a berth overnight.
Set off the next morning, 1.5 miles out of the marina. The same thing happen again. Returned to safe haven. The boat then had the fuel polished. Worst case they had seem was feedback I got.
What the Hamble sector light 1st set look like from land side.
Thank you Graham Stones can share
Details of a new commercial vessel registration scheme which has been implemented by Southampton VTS attached. Any commercial vessels operating in their area (Southamton Water and central Solent) need to register. This includes training vessels. Worth noting they require AIS to be fitted by January 2025. A good move.
