Trainee Dental Nurse

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Dental Nurse at Carnoustie Dental Care.

You will be supported by a fantastic team of Dentists and Nurses in conjunction with your SVQ approved course at Dundee Dental Hospital.

Working days can be negotiable at either 4 or 5 Days per week.
Starting wage will be negotiable.

This is an ideal opportunity for any High School leavers. Ideally age 17 +, or anyone looking for a new career path.

Qualifications required – Nat 5/standard grade – English, Maths, and Science.

All course fees will be paid for by the practice.

Job description –
• Assisting Dentists to a high degree with various dental treatments
• Breakdown and setting up of surgeries
• Patient care
• Computer duties – including treatment charting, dental notes, processing x-rays.
• Decontamination of instruments while maintaining excellent standards of infection control.
• Reception duties

JOB ROLE – PART TIME QUALIFIED DENTAL NURSE

Carnoustie Dental Care

We are looking for a part time qualified Dental Nurse to join our team and provide excellent patient care. Currently 2 days per week (Thursday/Friday) with the option to increase days in due course.

Carnoustie Dental Care is an independently owned dental practice located in the seaside town of Carnoustie. We are a mixed NHS and private practice. We are professional, supportive and our goal is to provide excellent care to our patients. We have a small, friendly and longstanding team of staff. We are all team players and go on regular day/nights out. (There is a very good cocktail bar along the road which we frequently visit on a Friday after work)
Free parking is also available near to the practice and also located near major bus routes.

Responsibilities:
• Assisting the dentists to a high degree
• Provide patient care
• Maintain patient records and charts
• LDU duties
• Occasional reception duties

What we offer:

• Paid over time at hourly rate or time back at one and a half times

We really do have the most wonderful patients that come to see us here at CDC and it is so nice to know how happy and comfortable we make them feel.

Bertie came to visit us at the practice today to help support his Mum.

We understand coming to the dentist can be very nerve-racking for people and certain individuals may need some support from their furry friends.

We will always welcome all guide dogs and emotional support pups at the practice. Our animal obsessed team love to see them.

This week it goes to our wonderful Trainee Dental Nurse Abbie.

Abbie has worked at CDC for 2.5 years and excels at her job. She is fantastic with patients and always makes them feel comfortable and at ease throughout their treatment. Abbie is always keen to learn about all things dental and is flying through her Dental Nurse College course.

When not at work Abbie is a social butterfly and is always spending time with friends and family. She is also a dog mum to Sooty her rescue dog from Romania who keeps her extremely busy with his naughty behaviour. 😜

Abbie is also a keen swimmer and teaches swimming lessons after work.

Employee Appreciation Post of the Week!

This week it goes to our superb receptionist Louise.

Louise has worked at CDC for 9 years she is a qualified dental nurse but excels in customer service and greeting our patients at the reception desk.

Louise has an infectious laugh and is always smiling. Her kind caring manner always makes our patients feel welcomed at the practice. She loves getting to know patients and chatting away to put them at ease throughout their dental visits.

When not working Louise is Mum, grandma and dog mum. She loves spending time with friends and family (and drinking and wine).

Welcome to the team Rohini!

Rohini will be working with us 2 days per week. She qualified as dentist from Aberdeen University in 2018.

Rohini has experience in working in restorative dentistry, oral surgery and community dental practices across Scotland. She has also worked in a busy maxillofacial surgery unit in a trauma centre in England where she provided care for a variety of conditions.

When not treating patients and making them smile, Rohini is a busy boy mum and dog mum and loves spending time with her friends and family.

Happy International Womans Day to our Girl Boss Team!!!

Just a gentle reminder to patients that as of the 1st of November 2023 dental charges in Scotland changed and all unscheduled appointments e.g. Emergency/pain appointments, broken teeth, dressings etc are now chargeable at a cost of £15.68. This applies to all patients that are not exempt from paying for dental treatment.

Please note this is not practice specific and applies to all NHS practices across Scotland and was brought in by the Scottish Government.

On Friday one of our long standing dental nurses Karen worked her last shift and is now officially retired. We wish you all the best and enjoy drinking wine every night now 😂

Last night Debbie and Nikki went to visit the Boys Brigade in Carnoustie to discuss all things teeth related and how to maintain a healthy smile. The boys really enjoyed themselves and showed us how they brush their teeth. Thank you to Val Russell for your help.

This week is goes to our wonderful Lead Dental Nurse Sammy.

Sammy has worked at CDC for 8 years; she started as a trainee nurse and has worked her way up to become a senior member of staff.

Sammy has a lovely calm manner and is particularly good with children and elderly patients, she loves chatting away and putting them at ease throughout their dental treatment.

Sammy is guaranteed to get the party started on a CDC night out and is always first up on the dance floor. When not at work, Sammy is an animal lover and has a house full of doggies and a turtle. 🐢🐶 Dudley the Pug keeps her particularly busy. She also loves going on early morning walks along Carnoustie beach.

Jessica graduated from Dundee University in 2019.

Jess is passionate about all things teeth related and has done many advanced courses since graduating including composite bonding and Invisalign. She loves transforming patient’s smiles and has had patients from all over Scotland travel to see her to have their smile enhanced.

Jess is great with children and anxious patients, she has a calm yet very enthusiastic manner and makes all patients feel relaxed and welcomed at the practice.

When not transforming smiles, you will find Jess at David Lloyd gym, enjoying family time and being a busy dog mum to Henry. 🐾

Eilidh has been a qualified dentist for 5 years. She graduated from Dundee University and has since worked in Blairgowrie, St Andrews and now here at CDC, where she never plans on leaving. (Her words not ours) 😜

Eilidh has a lovely calm manner and is fantastic with nervous patients. In her spare time she loves spending time with friends and family and planning her upcoming wedding.
