Great to see previous Climbers out and about!

On the 9th June 1923 the forth Holme Moss Hill Climb was staged. This year it had become an international afair with "foreign" entrants and cars. Local man Eddie Hall entered his Talbot, Aston Martin and Bugatti, for example.

The "Open" (international) Class II for 'Cars of 1101cc up to 1550cc' featured ten entries. Perhaps most notable amongst these was Lional Martin, driving AM270, an Aston Martin. He was the winner of the class, on Formula (how they did things then) and so this can lay claim to being one of , if not the , earliest International Wins by Aston Martin.

When we gather on Saturday 12th August from 10am at The Fleece, we shall be particularly celebrating this milestone, especially appropriate remembering that the firm was owned for many years by Huddersfield native (Sir) David Brown. All Astons especially welcome!

The Format will be the same as the last three years, with the paddock we had in 2022 being kindly made available once again, and food and drink at The Fleece running all day from breakfast for the early arrivals through to afternoon and evening meals for those who like to linger.

Hello all. Does anyone know the gentleman with the blue side valve Ford van who came this year? Or does anyone know of a couple of 1940s small commercial vehicles, vans, and big lorries of the same era for a film shoot next month? Let me know if you do.

Fabulous few hours at The Richard Roberts Archive yesterday. Found some previously undiscovered gems from their archive concerning our event in period. We will be posting them up soon.

Congratulations to our very own Ian Balmforth for coming second in Class 13 at The Brighton Speed Trials - an even older event than Holme Moss!!

On the morning after such a fabulous day before, I reflect over a cup of tea on how wonderfully the day went together. Great folk, amazing weather and the most funds we have raised to date! Thank you so much to attendees, sponsors, spectators and everyone who helps. Stuart Holland and I only ever hoped we could make an event like this one. BUT we only have 2 more years of Centenary events to do! 1924 was the last Holme Moss Hill Climb. This means next year we need to raise our game before the final Centenary event in 2024. Spoke with great people about the aims yesterday. I think 2023 will be a little more special with a specific marque to celebrate. Thanks to everyone, the planning and prep start here! Keep watching and do, please, if you had fun - tell your friends!

13/08/2022

Thank you so much to all who came along today

13/08/2022

Today is the day! Looking forward to seeing all of you at The Fleece. Remember it is £5 for your commemorative programme or £10 for that and a rally style decal. All profits to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Thanks to all sponsors and supporters - hope all have a great day. See you from 10am.

12/08/2022

Hello everyone. So, here we go again. Please do not try to get in before 10am tomorrow, but when you do arrive, drive carefully up the lane into the Fleece car park. Follow the lane ahead slowly and carefully, this route will be marked with red and white tape. After a short distance you turn right and the go left, again with care, going up a ramp into the Paddock, which is a genuine Paddock! Then walk down to the reception desk outside the pub to do your paperwork etc. When you want to go up the Moss, drive carefully out of the paddock, go straight on, then left - more tape - following round to the left and the right onto the road, it is laid with sets (cobbled in common parlance) then turn right, go along the road passing the Fleece in your right. Climb the hill and get your souvenir programme signed at the top. When you come back, turn left after the pub, again, retracing your arrival steps and park up in the Paddock and grab a coffee, bacon sarnie, pint or lunch! It WILL be hot so remember to use sun cream, wear a hat and keep hydrated. A diagram will be posted soon.

11/08/2022

Hello everyone. More details about how the day will run will go up tomorrow BUT - we will have a very special Guest of Honour with us tomorrow. This image is a strong clue, any guesses?

11/08/2022

It is looking like the weather will be scorching so please, anyone who attends, make sure you have a hat and sun screen! Then keep hydrated. Please don't try to arrive before 10am as we will not be ready for you until then. Nice, calm and relaxed day, will need to be in the heat (!) and programme, event decal etc all available if you want them. Let's mark the third event's centenary in a fun way. Entry to the paddock is via The Fleece car park and will be a one way, clockwise system. We will post a simple diagram later today.

09/08/2022

Site meeting at The Fleece tonight. Please note the paddock will be open from 10am on Saturday. The forecast is looking good, so tell your car mad friends to come and join us for the Centenary of 1922's event.

22/07/2022

Hello all. We collected this year's programmes today and in a new departure the cover is that of the original 1922 event's. This year you can have that and a small windscreen sticker for your £5 OR for £10 you can have both of these plus a limited edition event "rally plaque" decal as well for £10. All funds after nominal costs go to Yorkshire Air Ambulance as before remember. We will tell you about another 2022 innovation tomorrow. Keep checking in!
