It’s all smiles this week!

A year ago I trained as a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist at my favourite place 💆🏻‍♀️. And this week I passed my final exam !! A big challenge and one I’ve absolutely loved, it’s developed my hand skills, techniques and overall knowledge of physical rehabilitation.

Sports Massage Therapy is a non-invasive soft tissue massage treatment that targets specific areas of tension and discomfort in the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia, promoting overall well-being and optimal functioning. It offers pain management by reducing muscle tension and trigger points, stimulating the production of endorphins, and improving flexibility and range of motion. It also aids in stress reduction by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. It supports injury prevention and rehabilitation by increasing blood circulation and lymphatic flow, facilitating faster healing and tissue regeneration. It can be a complementary treatment to other treatments like chiropractic care, physical therapy, or sports training, enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of these treatments.

Rest.

A word that I keep seeing as we move into a new year and even I myself struggle with it. I’m the largest advocate for self care and taking time for one’s self, but rest still hasn’t been resonating with me.

After a severe injury to my back last summer I took it upon myself to work my way out of it, exercising and working through it and I’ve not wanted to take a step back and give myself and my body time. I have recovered now and I’ve excelled in the expectations of myself and what I can do when I put my mind to it.

However, I’ve just had to learn rest isn’t taking a step back, it’s still a step forward just in a slightly different direction and our mind and body need it.

Here’s to rest in 2024 and continuing to move forward 🩶

We are excited to announce that Stroud Sports Clinic, within Five Valleys Medical Practice, has recently added a new massage therapist to our team of highly skilled professionals. As one of our valued clients, we wanted to share this delightful news with you.

Our new massage therapist, Olivia St Clair-Austin, a third-generation massage therapist, specialises in a variety of massage techniques, including deep tissue, remedial, restorative, and pregnancy massage. With a deep understanding of the human body, Olivia tailors each massage to suit the individual, creating a safe and comfortable environment for muscular recovery. Olivia works with clients experiencing general discomfort, tightness, limited mobility, and recent or ongoing injuries to reset the body and heal from the outside in.

We understand that finding the right massage therapist for your needs is crucial for achieving optimal results, which is why we are confident that Olivia will be a valuable addition to our team and will provide you with the highest level of care and attention during your treatments.
