Scratchers Delight 🌹

Less than a week until all the samples go online for the Scratchers Delight tattoo inspired pottery!

Every piece has been hand made and painted by myself, some pieces may have gold on them and all of them are fully functional pieces.

I know that this seems like a massive shift in what you usually see me decorating, and it is, but this has been on my list of things I needed to tick off trying!

I have been low key obsessed with tattoos and body art since I was a child - I used to buy the boxes of temporary tattoos from the book fairs that would to come to my primary school. I also used to draw and paint on myself far too often!
Every project I did in uni involved tattoos as part of the character design and development. I always felt like it was the most literal form of self expression and individualism.
When I started working in theatre I got to work on a few shows where I was applying and hand painting tattoos for months at a time - utter heaven!

So have a few tattoo inspired mugs just seemed like the natural thing to do!

Fear not! Sgraffito will always be a core of Crock but I’m learning to play with other things I love too!

Summer Workshop Dates ✨

For everyone who has been asking when are there going to be more dates available for decorating pottery, they are now live on the website! (Link in bio, or visit www.crockashwt.co.uk and click workshops)

There are 2 new changes this time around! Firstly, as well as a mug decorating workshop, there will also be a platter decorating workshop!
So the same concept as the mug, I will make the platter before hand (you can choose the shape) and then you spend 2 hours slowing down by painting and carving!

Secondly, these workshops will be taking place at Meanwhile House in Cardiff, down the corridor from my studio!
We will be taking over the beautiful space that is for a couple of hours whilst having a hot drink and some sweet treats!

There’s been a bit of a flurry of new followers recently so I thought I’d reintroduce myself!

I’m Angharad and I’m the face, and hands, behind Crock-Â-Shwt.
I’ve been making pottery for nearly 6 years now and I love it even more than when I started!

I think it’s quite clear from what I make that I love colour and illustration and I’m really leaning into dopamine boosting pottery!
At the end of 2023 I moved into my own studio outside of where I live and here’s to 2024 being jammed packed with exciting new adventures and pots and puns!

New Workshop Dates! ✨

This time I’ll be down West at in Llanelli and .pie (Motley Pie 2.0)in Pontarddulais!

Learn to scratch - a workshop in using Sgraffito to decorate your own mug.

In this 2 hour workshop I’ll introduce you to the Sgraffito technique which you’ll use to decorate your own mug.
Working with raw clay and slip to carve your own designs, you’ll create a mug which is truly unique.

I will be on hand to guide you through this mindful workshop as you explore the process, you can choose from a wide range of colours and I will provide extra visual material to help you create a design you love.

Each workshop is an informal and intimate experience in which I encourage you to slow down and unwind!

I will also provide all materials and tools, however please feel free to bring anything visual material which you think will help inspire your piece!

The mug you will be decorating will be thrown by myself, you will be working on an already made mug and once decorated I will fire the mug twice and the mug will have been dipped in a transparent glossy glaze which will emphasise the colours and your design!

Once finished, I will post your mug to you!

Valentine’s Drop ❤️

All of this year’s Valentine’s drop is now online to view and will be able to be purchased from 0900 tomorrow morning - Friday 9th February.

When I say I love colour, I mean I love colour! You might see me dressed in various shades of black the majority for the time but every now and then I’ll be head to toe in clashing patterns and colour and all of my pottery is a reflection of that dopamine dressing!

Spread a little Cariad - Lovespoon Workshop 💓

Last night we had our first workshop of 2024 and our first Lovespoon making workshop ever and hosting it was an absolute joy.

As with the mug decorating workshops I was amazed by the incredible pieces everyone made a s I can not wait to see how they turn out once they’ve been glazed and fired!

Again was an incredible space for everyone to create it, the love potion was lush and so were the sweet treats.

The next workshop is 11th February and there are still a few spaces available!

Spread a little Cariad - Lovespoon Workshop

Although St. Valentine is the patron saint of lovers this workshop is perfect for spreading a little love, whether to a Valentine, Galentine or simply some self love. We’ll be manifesting love and celebrating it in it’s purest form!

In this 2 hour workshop you’ll be creating your own ceramic Lovespoon, I’ll introduce you to the Sgraffito technique which you’ll use to decorate your Lovespoon. Working with raw clay and slip to carve your own designs you’ll create a Lovespoon which is truly unique.

I will be on hand to quite you through this mindful workshop as you explore the process, you can choose from a range of colours and I will provide extra visual material to help you to create a design you love.

Each workshop is an informal and intimate experience.
The workshop will take place at the beautiful Pantri Box, the Harlequin Building, Porthcawl, CF36 3BL.
You’ll also be able to browse the beautiful refill and zero waste shop.

Sweet treats and a special love potion will also be included in the workshop, although alternative beverages are also available.
All materials and tools will be provided, all you need to do is bring yourself, however feel free to bring yourself any extra visual material that you think will inspire your piece!

Once your piece has dried and been fired and glazed, I can post your Lovespoon to you or can arrange collection or drop - location depending.

**PLEASE NOTE: Lovespoons will take up to 3 weeks from decorating to glazing so you will not be able to take your Lovespoon home at the end of the workshop - but they will be worth the little wait!

On St. Dwynwen’s Day we are back at with a workshop and this time we are making ceramic Lovespoons!

Although St. Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers this workshop is perfect for spreading a little love, whether to a Valentine, Galentine or simply some self love. We’ll be manifesting love and celebrating it in its purest form!

This workshop is 2 hours long, all materials, tools and visual aids will be provided however, please feel free to bring any visual materials which may inspire your piece!

I will introduce you to the Sgraffito technique, which you’ll use to decorate your Lovespoon, and I will be on hand to guide you through the making and decorating process so that you make a Lovespoon which is truly unique!

It’s that time of year again when I start making pottery which is all about spreading a bit of Cariad.

As usual I hate making for specific occasions but I think there is nothing wrong with showing your favourite person how much you love them, be it a Valentine, Galentine or just yourself!

I can’t wait to get these glazed and for the colours to really pop!

Mix and Match 🩵💙

I always think more is more and that I want everyone to be able to mix and match my pottery across all of the collections.

You’ll notice that I use the same colourways specifically for you to be able to do this, there are so many different combinations to create your very own authentic collection.

Are you a match-y match-y or clash-y clash-y collector? Personally I’m here for both!

Winter Shop Update ❄️

Shop update will be going live online tomorrow morning at 0900 GMT.

I have been absolutely shocking at keeping up to date on Instagram at the moment but I am still here, I’ve been working my little (not so little) butt off trying to get the studio ready to get the kiln wired in on Wednesday!

But first all of my pottery will be available to buy tomorrow morning on the website, unfortunately no Rodeo Queen mugs but there are Zodiac mugs and Lovespoon mugs and a load of seconds up for grabs!

There’s not been much potting going on over here recently but I’ve finally gotten the keys to my new studio and I cannot wait to be set up for the new year.

Just gotta get paint on the walls, the kiln wired in, the plants into the sunshine and we’ll be good to go!

And just like that, the workshops are done for the rest of the year!

Thank you to everyone who came to any of the workshops, you all made it completely worth while and I’m still in awe of seeing what you’ve all made. It’s great giving everyone the same information and seeing how differently everyone decorated their own piece.

Also I can’t thank the beautiful soul that is Gemma, from , for hosting us for these workshops! This space is just really lush, I can not suggest more how worth a visit it is! It’s basically on the sea front in Porthcawl and is a refill station with great food and drinks, and they start serving breakfast this morning - all vegan!

Also, for everyone who has asked there will be more workshops in the New Year! The next set will be for Lovespoon decorating for
Dydd Santes Dwynwen or St Dwynwen’s Day.

Workshops ✨

It’s been a bit of a messy month over here but on Sunday the first Sgraffito Workshop happened at and it was so lovely, and much needed from my end!

I’ve wanted to do a Sgraffito workshop for a little while because I wanted to share the process which I love so much with others. This workshop, whilst being a pottery workshop, is an invitation to take a step back and slow down for 2 hours.

Gemma from made the space so inviting and provided the lush coffees and teas and tasty sweet treats for everyone!

It was a joy to see how everyone approached decorating their mugs and everyone’s mug was completely different! And as always, everyone was so sweet and basically made my day with the conversations.

Super Seconds Festival ✨

So happy to be taking part in again, the amount of lovely makers I have met through this great event is insane - I met two new ones at a market I did in London on the weekend!

All of the mugs/pots have been photograph and tonight I’ll start getting the listings online to view. Like always, there will be big discounts on all pieces because they are not perfect!

Punchy Pumpkins 🎃

The last of the pumpkins are online, and only one sgraffito Harvest mug is available!

Making for Christmas has already started which is crazy to say considering we’re only just at the beginning of October, but pottery is a slow process so I’m probably a bit behind! But I’m really excited to bring back the Rodeo Queens and Zodiac Collections for winter!

I wish I had made more than one of these mugs because this beaut has turned out way more special than I thought it would!

Being understated when it comes to colour and pottery doesn’t come easy to me and I feel like this is the closest I’ll get to it!

All of the mugs are available to view online already but won’t be available to purchase until 10am on Saturday 23rd September.
