Happy Sunday all you lovely people. Here’s one of our jobs all wrapped up with some fantastic photos taken by the very talented . This unit is a whopping 4.2m wide and over 3m high. All of our work is hand painted to a high quality. I might be biased but I choose this over a laminate chipboard any day! Paint used is by and is a F and B colour called Pigeon. Tikkurila do a lot of their own fantastic choice of colours too.

Little upgrade on the doors for this existing built in wardrobe - swapped out the hinges for Blum soft close and replaced the doors with some new MRMDF and planted some beading on to give it some detailing.

Little handrail and newel replacement 🥰 forgot to take a before pic so just imagine it was really nasty looking before with the horrible horizontal rails going across, you know the ones.

Lots of parquet flooring completed recently - plyboarded first and always stuck down. Doing things the right way, always! This was a total of 115m2 from the reception room, into the utility we fitted out (see other post) and downstairs in the office room.

Kitchen installation - projects like these I always find incredibly rewarding. Seeing and managing the project through from start to finish and the transformation it has on someone’s home is why I love my job. I’m lucky to have a group of very talented tradesmen and between us we are able to offer a high quality service and end product.

Partitioned this room to allow for a utility room, just missing the appliances! This was a fun project with lots of different carpentry work to get stuck into. Including the parquet flooring, fitting the utility out with these in-frame units and also making some pull out shelves below the appliances for ease of folding clothes.

As much as I like the big projects to get stuck into, I do like little jobs like this. A simple unit swap, concealing the extractor fan with what’s called a ‘bridging unit’ plus using extra tall wall units (usually 900mm instead of the standard 720mm) swipe to see the before picture!

Always nice popping back to a job and seeing your work being put to good use! I built a stud wall out to make the depth for the inset oak shelving, cladding it in MRMDF. I used 22mm solid oak for the boxes and oak veneer plywood for the backings. Giving a alcove a new purpose and adding something a little different to the room.

Photos from Whiting Carpentry's post 18/02/2021

Built in storage seat using oak veneer plywood for the internals and hand painted MRMDF for the external material. I used specialist furniture paint as it cures and hardens making it very durable. Shaker style panelling was used to make it in keeping with the cottage. I hope you like it!

DID YOU KNOW - You don’t need a chimney breast in the middle of your room to have alcove units? Modern builds rarely have these and so you may think you can’t have something like this. But you can create and build a faux chimney breast like I’ve done here. It gives the room character and turns a basic room into something more interesting! What do you all think about doing this? I built these at the beginning of last year and never got around to posting! These were made from moisture resistant MDF. I use MRMRF because it’s a much high density board which means you can sand the edges and get a great finish on them. Using standard MDF it’s very hard to get a good finish as the edges are so fluffy!
