Wee reminder about Celebrate Aberdeen 31 August 2024 ๐
The parade celebrates the work of volunteers & third sector in the City & is organised by volunteers for volunteers.
Aberdeen District have signed up again to take part in the parade down Union Street and we are looking for Groups to join us on the day. We have had a great representation in previous years so it would be great to see your Group there.
Please encourage your Group members to come along. The parade is only an hour/hour & a half, and parents and siblings are welcome to join us for the parade.
The route is slightly different this year - the parade will lead off from Albyn Place and down Union Street, along Union Terrace, Rosemount Viaduct, Schoolhill and Upperkirkgate, ending on Broad Street.
Due to the short time of the activity, we recommend younger section members are accompanied by their parents for the parade which will make it straightforward once the parade ends.
Usual ratios will apply. Groups are responsible for their own members.
Please find below the information needed to take part in the parade.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae
