Rushwick Pre-School
Rushwick PS offers high quality childcare for children in Rushwick village and the surrounding areas.
This afternoon we took part in the first of our intergenerational project sessions with Debutots.
Debutots involves schools and early years settings visiting local care homes for regular interactive storytelling, drama and play sessions with the residents.
It is a wonderful opportunity for all involved that brings joy to everyone and allows lovely friendships to blossom between the children and residents 😊
This week we launched our ’People who help us’ topic and were very lucky to have a special visit from a local nurse who lead a practical session for the children where they all had the opportunity to ask questions and experiment with a variety of medical equipment.
It is important for children to understand the people in the community who provide a supporting role. Hopefully, there will never be a situation in which they would need to use these services while they are very young, but it is vital that they understand who they are and what they do in case of an emergency.
Today we had our first session with Debutots Worcestershire
The Debutots programme focuses on:
• building confidence
• developing language skills
• developing communication skills
• promoting a love of stories
• stretching imaginations
• promoting friendships
• engaging communities
We look forward to our fortnightly visits within the local community 😊

Activities such as planting seeds and growing plants are a great way to address all seven areas of learning in the EYFS. Plus, they help children to explore and enjoy the world around them 🪴 🌱
One of the best ways to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly is to watch it happen in person.
🐛🐛🐛🐛🐛
For approximately four weeks the children have watched in anticipation as their tiny caterpillars transformed into beautiful butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋
The children have done an amazing job at looking after our caterpillars/butterflies and today was a very exciting day for all as the butterflies were strong enough to be released into the wild 👏

We give our children as many “hands on” experiences as we can.
Over the past week the children have had an opportunity to join in activities that have involved grating, tearing, stirring, squeezing, shaking, whisking, pouring, cutting and spreading.
All of these techniques help to strengthen their hand muscles which are so important in developing their fine motor skills.
I received the following message today which really brightened our day☀️
Messages such as these mean so much to all of our team here at Rushwick Pre-School 🥰
We’re in the Worcester News newspaper!🤩
The children are always very keen to blow a dandelion that has gone to seed when they see one.
The little parachute like seeds detach easily and seem quite delicate. However, we have discovered that dandelion seed puff balls are stronger than you think!
The children have now discovered that you can place a whole dandelion head in water and when removed again it is almost completely undamaged🌟
We have all had a lovely day basking in the spring sunshine ☀️🌷🌼☀️
Spring has sprung here at Rushwick Pre-School and we are all very excited. Here are some of the fun activities the children have taken part in so far🌼 🐸 🦋🌷

Happy Easter to all of our Pre-School children and their wonderful families. We hope you have a lovely weekend and are having a relaxing break.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Easter Stay & Play session this afternoon. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did 🐣
We were ever so lucky yesterday to have two very special guests join us at Pre-School.
Rev Anne, who delivered the Easter Story, the children all were all really engaged by the story of Easter and learnt why we celebrate Easter.
During the afternoon the Easter Bunny hopped by to deliver some special treats, we then enjoyed a fun egg hunt around then garden 🪺🐇
We love it when the children become inspired by their current interests.
Today we shared one child’s interest for learning all about our bodies.
The children really enjoyed sharing a book about healthy eating and exercise at circle time and in turn questions were asked about fitness and keeping healthy. This then led to us all taking part in a Joe Wickes PE video 💪🏼
Whilst we exercised we talked about how our bodies were feeling, how exercise is important and what body parts we were moving.
We all had lots of fun ☺️

Our fabulous astronauts 💫 have zoomed off into space this week on their junk model rockets, where they then learned facts about the 8️⃣ planets in our solar system🪐🌎 and how they revolve around the☀️
Our astronauts have also taken part in the following themed activities: making moon rock cakes, number and scissor control rockets, creating sensory space bottles, moon pictures made with puffy paint as well as joining in with space themed stories and songs throughout the week 🌒
We would like to say a huge thank you to AJB Sports in Education for our free trial session where we had a fun packed interactive PE lesson. The children were engaged throughout and throughly enjoyed the experience 😊
On Monday 13th November we celebrated ‘World Kindness Day’. We then continued with this theme throughout the week, the children have been busy baking for their friends, making bracelets by threading pasta shapes for their loved ones, making rainbow fish and working together as a team to fill our kindness jar amongst many other activities.
The children then finished off the week by making their very own Pudsey Bear crowns to show our support for Children in need.
