Meet Milo & Dexter πŸ’™

These two boys have been struggling to get on with each other recently, so much so, that they had to be kept separate all the time. After working through the behaviour modification programme that we put in place, the boys can now enjoy off-lead time with each other again!

Well done to Milo, Dexter, and their dedicated owners for putting in all the work πŸ’™

Meet Lanto ❀

Lanto's wonderful owner rescued him, and he has been settling into his new home very well πŸ₯° He loves enrichment activities, attention, and snoozing on the sofa! Lanto can struggle with moving into his garden and leaving the house (when not leaving at his regular time for a dog walk), and he can also bark at the window when people/dogs move past his patch.

We put a behaviour modification programme in place to help Lanto and he is now choosing to move into the garden when his owner is outside, the barking at the window has massively reduced, and Lanto and his dedicated owner are continuing to work on getting him out for walks at different times of the day.

Happy training Lanto ❀

Meet Hendrick ❀

This beautiful boy was starting to struggle when people approached him to interact/touch him. We worked on building up his confidence in this situation as he lives in a busy area, so it is not always possible to avoid people walking towards him. His owner is working hard with him and Hendrick is improving (and enjoying looking for all the tasty rewards!)

Happy training Hendrick ❀

Meet Penny (front) and Fern (back) πŸ–€

These are two incredibly beautiful, smart girls with very dedicated owners πŸ₯° Fern was rehomed and was struggling to settle in the home when she could hear her owners moving around (they work from home) and quickly showed her owners how much she loved to chase wildlife!

We have been working together to help her feel more settled in the home, on engagement when out walking, and to built-up her recall in front of big distractions.

Penny is doing and wonderful job and Fern is having a good time hanging around for some treats πŸ₯°

Happy training Penny, and happy eating Fern πŸ–€

Meet Kobi πŸ’›

This cute man started to struggle to get along with one of the other dogs in the house which understandably caused lots of stress in the household. His lovely owners have been working hard to introduce a behavioural modification programme to help build his confidence and give him more space to relax.

Meet beautiful Breagha 🩷

I had the pleasure of working with Beagha and her dedicated owners to help her feel more comfortable when home alone and when out walking around other dogs. Her owners had already started training her to be comfortable home alone before we met using one of my online courses. We tailored made the plan to her and her confidence continues to grow. πŸ₯³

Over the years it is safe to say I had so many enrichment activities and pieces of dog training equipment that I could open a pet store! I am sure many of my clients feel the same way. To make things a little easier (and to save yourself time and money) here are my recommended essentials.

These essentials along with training, company, good food, a safe place, and good quality dog walks = a happy dog

Meet Millie 🀎

This lovely girl struggled to sit still to let her owner put her lead on her for walks - this resulted in a lot of stress for everyone. She can also be very reserved around people and dogs, wanting to pull away from them as they approach her.

We put a training plan in place and Millie is feeling much better πŸ₯° She now loves to go for her dog walks and her confidence is building around people and dogs too!

Happy training Millie 🀎

To put it bluntly... life is expensive but we still want (and need) to spend time training our dogs πŸ’™ Sometimes this can be very lonely and hard to be motivated to practice unless in a class environment.

To help, I will soon be offering 'pay what you can' online classes where we work on the basics. Remember advanced dog training is the basics done well!

These classes are open to everyone, and to dogs of all levels. They will be great for my clients who are working on their dog's behavioural issues to continue to work on effective communication πŸ₯° All done online, from the comfort of your home.

Make sure you are signed up to the newsletter where all the information will be released first.

Meet Theo 🀍

This handsome man can become very overwhelmed when visitors coming into his home. This can result in him yelling and chasing them away! All he wants is space (which is allowed) but made having visitors tricky and stressful for everyone. πŸ€—

We worked to build up his confidence around people when out walking first. He is more comfortable out on walks, which is why it is the perfect place to start the training around people. We have more space to work with to ensure we set him up for success.

Then we took his training indoors and he was LOVING hearing the clicker and getting chicken, even with me in his home.

Happy training Theo 🀍

Meet Zara 🩷

This beautiful girl can struggle when traveling in the car, making even short journeys stressful for her and her owner.

We put a plan in place to help her feel more confident when approaching the car and changed her set-up in the car to help make her feel more comfortable too.

Meet Nevis (the lab) and Bear (the collie) 🀎

I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely dogs and their owners to help Bear feel more confident with life. She can struggle with general anxiety, chase shadows, and react toward other dogs.

We met for two sessions - the first one to focus on what background work/training we can put in place to help get her in the best mind frame possible to learn, and the second one to focus on what practical training to put in place when out walking.

She loved the training and I am sure she will progress very quickly. Her owner is dedicated, and Bear is a super clever lady.

Meet Henry πŸ’›

This handsome man struggles with his frustration levels when on the lead around other dogs. As a rescue, he was used to moving around dogs freely, coming and going as he pleases so being on the lead is a little bit odd to him.

We put in place a behavioural modification programme to help him stay focused on his owners and calmer around other dogs. He very quickly loved hearing the clicker!

Meet Penny 🧑

This beautiful girl used to struggle to settle in her home throughout the day, with constant barking when leaving her home for a dog walk, and when people/dogs moved past her when out walking.

Her dedicated owners have been working hard, and she is now able to settle throughout the day, and remain quiet and focused on her owners when leaving her home.

We met recently to work on training when out walking, which her owners report she loves and she is much calmer when out and about.

Happy training Penny 🧑

Nope, I'll not tell you off! Here is Emmy sleeping upside-down next to me ❀️

Meet Chippy πŸ’š

This lovely boy started to become worried around people and dogs when out walking, and in his home. He would bark and lunge toward them to communicate he would like them to move away.

We worked on building up his confidence by teaching him people/dogs are not as scary as he thinks! He is feeling much calmer when out walking thanks to his owner's working hard on his training.

Happy training Chippy πŸ’š

Meet Woody πŸ’™

This stunning boy struggled in and out of his home due to several triggers which made it hard for him to settle and relax 😒

His wonderful owner has worked so hard on the behavioural modification programme we put in place and now he is so much more relaxed (as you can see!)

It is an absolute pleasure getting to meet all the dogs and their humans that I get to work with ❀

Meet Harley & Robin, mother and daughter ❀

These beautiful girls can struggle when people and dogs are close by on walks, and when visitors come into the home. Their lovely owners recognised and understood they were struggling due to anxiety so we put in a behavioural modification programme in place to help πŸ₯³

The girls are working hard on their dog walks (enjoying the treats as they go!) I am sure it won't be long until they start to feel more calm and relaxed - they are two smart cookies πŸ₯°

This time I talk about how self-control can be tricky for our dogs (and for us humans... yes, I wrote the newsletter as I was eating cupcakes for breakfast... I have as much self-control around food as a Labrador 🀣) and what we can do help them!

Much love to you all πŸ₯°

Meet Archie the muddy pup 🀎

Archie was rehomed to his current owners and he most certainly landed on all four paws 🐾 He struggled with over-arousal behaviours when out walking resulting in jumping and biting his lead (and owners!) I worked with his owners online (he lives on an island off the West Coast) and now they all enjoy calm (muddy) dog walks together thanks to his owners' hard work and dedication to this lovely boy ❀

Meet Skye πŸ’™

This beautiful girl was struggling to settle at her home and enjoy her dog walks. She filled her time barking out of the window, in the garden, and TV toward people and dogs - although she did love to chill in her crate ☺️ On walks, she found being around other dogs over-exciting but also worrying at the same time!

We popped a behaviour modification programme in place to help her feel better in these situations. Here wonderful, dedicated owner has been working hard on the training and now Skye is settled in her home and can go on calm, enjoyable dog walks with other dogs πŸ₯³

πŸ“’NEW Monthly online class!πŸ“’

Thursday 8th February at 6.30pm is the date for your diary!

Does your dog struggle to be patient? Do you feel your dog becomes frustrated easily? Or maybe your dog 'throws' all the behaviours they know at you when you ask for a sit in the hope of getting the reward as quickly as possible?!

If yes, then working on your dog's self control and frustration tolerance is a great way of helping them slow down, be patient, and process what you are asking them to do. In this webinar, I'll show you exactly what to work on to help!

We start with a presentation, talking you through the new topic, techniques, and training we are going to work on. Then we get to work! I will demonstrate with my dog, and then you practice, all while being supported by myself. Questions and discussions are very welcome.

Click here to book - https://www.petbehaviourconsulting.co.uk/webinars

Meet Hector, the stunning Italian SpinoneπŸ’™

This handsome chap needed some help to remain calm around visitors (including delivery people). We popped a behavioural modification programme in place to help him feel more comfortable and calm.

His wonderful owner reports that he did a great job with visitors to the house over the holidays and managed to settle even with a busy household πŸ₯³

Well done Hector, happy training πŸ’™

Meet Anna (front) and Indy (back) πŸ€ŽπŸ–€

Indy started to struggle when out on dog walks. If he heard a bang he would freeze and sometimes bolt back to the car, his normal, super speedy recall wouldn't work to get him back as he was panicking. As he is such a clever man, he started to refuse to get out of the car at walks he had a previous fright at.

After hard work put in by his lovely owners, following a behavioural modification programme, he is now confident getting out of the car at the 'danger dog walks', with his tail going wild as he runs through the undergrowth. If he does get a fright, his owners can call him to them and help to calm him down before they continue with the dog walk.

Well done Indy (and Anna - who loved the free treats when she joined in with Indy's training) and his owners. You four make a wonderful team! πŸ€ŽπŸ–€

Meet Pippin (another beautiful golden oldie 😍)

After Pippin lost her doggie friend she started to refuse to walk and became fearful of traffic sounds and bangs. She would happily walk with the family dogs who came to visit.

First, we worked with her vet to ensure no medical condition/pain was contributing to her lack of enthusiasm to walk. Then we worked on a behavioural modification programme to give her a big boost in confidence. Her wonderful owners worked through the full training progamme, completing all their 'homework' and now Pippin is walking happily down pavements, in the park, and on routes she hasn't walked for a very long time! πŸ₯³

Happy training Pippin 😍
