It's so important we continue checking in if we are worried about someone.
Listening is one of the most helpful things we can do. Just having someone to listen to their thoughts and feelings with compassion and patience can help people feel less alone and less overwhelmed.❤️

・・・
In a world that often feels like a relentless storm of expectations and judgments, it’s easy to feel like a tiny boat tossed about on the waves, constantly battered by the opinions of others. We’ve all experienced those moments when someone’s careless words or actions have cut deep, leaving us questioning our worth and wondering if we’ll ever be enough.
But here’s the truth: those who make you feel like you’re too much or not enough are looking at you through the lens of their own limitations, fears, and insecurities. They can’t see the magic within you, the unique combination of qualities and quirks that make you, well, you.
Your needs, your voice, your body, your style, your passions, your creativity, your jokes, your love – they’re not just random pieces of who you are. They’re the brush strokes that paint the portrait of your soul. They’re what make you beautifully, unequivocally, and unapologetically you.
And you know what? Only some people are going to get it. Others might look at the masterpiece that is you and see nothing but scribbles and chaos. They might hear the melody of your heart and think it’s out of tune. But we cannot expect to be in-sync with everyone.
Your worth isn’t determined by someone else’s ability to recognize it. Your value doesn’t fluctuate based on whether or not others appreciate the art that is your life.
Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Don’t let their lack of perspective make you question the beauty of your own canvas. Keep painting, keep singing, keep living your truth, and know that those who are meant to appreciate the wonder that is you will find their way into your gallery eventually.
And in the meantime? Hang your own art on the walls of your heart, and marvel at the incredible work of art that you are because that’s what it means to truly love and accept yourself – to recognize that you are everything you’re meant to be, flaws and all, and to keep growing, learning, and evolving on your own terms.

A few weeks back As You Are held an incredible fundraiser supported by giving up their time to be there for us! The lead singer of Dry Run reminded us all why accessible mental health support is essential - this is why we do what we do.
This insanely talented group helped us raise just over £3000 for As You Are! 👏
The evening was made possible by our amazing Service Manager Jen, with support from Danny & - we are so thankful to you all!
❤️
♥️
As You Are is starting the New Year with a new project: peer support groups with a focus on psycho-education to improve emotional well-being & provide support for the parents & carers of children with life-limiting illnesses, disabilities and neurodiversity.
The groups are FREE to access due to generous funding from The True Colours Trust.
In order to be as accessible & inclusive as possible we have a choice of 4 group options:
- One group will run online for 6 weeks starting in March.
- Two groups group will be held in person running from our base at the Corner House, Southwick for 6 weeks - one of these will be on a Saturday & another on a Tuesday morning starting in March.
- One Group will be in person held as two separate workshops for 4 hours on two Saturdays - 27th April & 11th May.
Please contact [email protected] directly for more information & to book your place or use our website asyouare.uk. Please share widely, as we know this is a much-needed support for this group of people.
We look forward to meeting some of you soon.
