Gel nails are durable, but not indestructible
There is a popular saying in the nail world ‘Nails are jewels, not tools’.
The reason is because if you use your nails as though they are a tool, it can cause your nails to break, weakens the nail and can cause damage to your nail bed (the pink part of your nail).
Instead, use tools to open objects. This will make sure you keep your nails in perfect condition, and your gel nails will last longer.

Having a Nail Grace gel manicure is low maintenance
Life is so busy, and your time is precious. By having a Nail Grace gel manicure, it makes you feel truly pampered, impeccably groomed and they last up to 5 weeks.
Simply have the gel applied to your nails and as it’s dry instantly, you can immediately continue with your day. There is no waiting for the gel to dry, like normal nail polish.
The maintenance for having gel nails, is (or should be!) the same as when your fingernails have no gel –
Wear gloves when washing up and cleaning

A treat for these youngsters
Most of my ladies who want to be pampered at Nail Grace are professional ladies aged 30+. However, for school proms, they treat their daughter(s) or granddaughter(s) to a professional manicure and choose their trusted Nail Technician - Shona (yes, me!) at Nail Grace to give their daughter or granddaughter the look she would like.
Teenage nails are different to adult nails. They are more delicate and therefore need to be treated in a different way.
I’ll show them how to care for their nails whilst their gel nails are on, then afterwards.
Trust Nail Grace to pamper yourself, as well as your daughters or granddaughter to a professional manicure.

It's not just about the prom dress!
Although having a comfortable, flattering and elegant dress is important for such a special event.
As a teenager, there are also other essential factors to include:
👠 Shoes - think about being on your feet for long periods of time, then sitting down. Colour to compliment the dress
👛Bag - to carry your mobile phone to take photos or to phone someone if needed, lipstick/ lip balm, spare hair clips, tissue. Colour to compliment the dress and shoes (either same colour as the shoes or white, silver, gold or grey are great colours)
💍Jewellery - simple earrings, necklace, bracelet and watch, as the dress tends to have intricate detail
🪮Hair and any hair accessories - opt for hairstyling at home or book in at a hairdressers for an event hairstyle
💅Nails - keep nails all the same length, then either have them natural (no colour), paint them yourself or book in at Nail Grace to have a professional manicure/pedicure with or without gel/nail art, which will last up to 3 weeks on fingernails and up to 6 weeks on toenails
Don’t forget to order food for the sit-down meal, as well as deciding who to attend with and what mode of transport.

School prom nails are so important, especially for the girls. The dress, shoes, bag, hair, make up and the nails.
Every year, I get a couple of girls who would like natural looking nails with gel on them for their special prom. Some opt for nail art too.
I specialise in the health of the natural nail and that is what the prom parents like, when they book their daughter in for a professional manicure at Nail Grace.

Nails after 4 weeks
Perfect nails, just the regrowth gives it away, that it’s not a fresh set of gel nails.
This lady is a Mummy (to 4, including a baby under 1 years old).
Her secret?! She looks after her nails - wears washing up gloves when doing the dishes and uses cuticle oil.
If your nails aren’t lasting 4 weeks, then let me know, so we can work out why. Sometimes it’s something so simple, such as not using cuticle oil.

I’m back!
I took my husband, son and daughter, as well as my Dad, to the Outer Hebrides to visit family and friends. I’m EXTREMELY passionate about the Isle of Lewis, especially Gress, as that is where my Dad’s side of the family are from. We all had an absolutely amazing time away.
Highlights from the Outer Hebrides:
🏝its history
🏝stunning scenery - no matter the weather conditions,
🏝it’s peaceful,
🏝brimming with wildlife - we saw Golden Eagles, seals, lots of deer, rabbits, sheep, (Highland) cows, horses and a hedgehog, to name a few - we’d just missed a pod of Orcas passing by the island, so hopefully we’ll catch them next time.

🏝staying in a castle for the week – Lews Castle – same place my Dad went to college, when he was a teenager

A beautifully relaxing Event on Tuesday
Thank you to everyone who came yesterday to the Mama Relax and Rejuvenate Event. All Mama’s and Mama’s-to-be left feeling totally refreshed after their treatments and were so happy they could bring their babies to an Event that was focused on Mamas.
This is the 2nd time, I have collaborated with Lizzie from Top to Toe Treatments Corsham & Bath, to bring you our exclusive Mama Relax and Rejuvenate Event. Lizzie is based in Corsham and specialises in treating women from fertility through to family.
The beauty with the Mama Relax and Rejuvenate Event is you can bring your bump or newborn (up to 1 year) with you. As it is so relaxed, you can stay for just your treatments and refreshments, or for the duration of the Event. You can even decide on the day how long you stay for.
Booking is essential, as spaces quickly get fully booked.

🌸 Embrace Nature's Miracles this May!!!
Last night after dinner, my youngest and I went for a walk in our local woods, which has 2 lakes....... look what we found!!! The first babies we've seen this year!
Why am I featuring geese and goslings on my Nail Grace grid?! Well, for starters I love nature and caring for the environment. Due to this, I have created treatments and a home nail salon environment, which enhances your natural beauty, as well as being as sustainable as possible, to encourage our natural world.
Also, this month there will be another Mama Relax and Rejuvenate Event, and it's all to do with Mummies who are either pregnant or have given birth within the last year. Details to follow very soon!!

School Easter Holidays have ended!
I’m now back to working normal hours at Nail Grace.
It was 2.5 weeks of having the little ones at home and doing activities (whilst working reduced hours to pamper you):
*baking! Chocolate Rice Krispie cakes (Easter egg style) and a birthday cake (guess the disguised age!) and a Blondie (not photographed, as eaten too quickly!!)
*Solar panels have been fitted to the roof of my home, which will also help Nail Grace!! Popcorn, my cat, decided to climb the scaffolding - she’s normally so nervous. 💝
*intensive swimming lessons for the little ones
*trip to Bradford on Avon for a walk along the canal path and spotting wildlife,
*playing in lots of different play parks
*meeting up with friends and family
*Boomerang - such a great soft play. Although it won’t be long until they have both outgrown this place
*Luca going to watch his first professional football match with his Daddy
*a couple of days at - both mine love going here!
*going to the brand new .3_the_deli at Springfield Leisure Centre with friends. They had a really good choice of drinks and food, including cakes!
Can you guess cake is big in my household?!

This lady chose the design in photo 3. To recreate a similar look, I mixed colours to create the nails in the first 2 photos.

A must product for your naked nails or Bio Sculpture nails
A cuticle oil or cuticle cream will hydrate and condition your cuticles and nails, to instantly make them look and feel better.
Simply use once a day on all your nails (fingernails and toenails).
If you use regularly, you should need a new bottle/ tube every 2-3 months.
With regular use, the cuticles will reduce to make your nails look longer. Your hangnails (the bits of skin down the side of your nails) will either be non-existent or you hardly get them.
Depending what your nails and cuticles are like, will depend on which nail product is best for you.
