THIS is the Shire Yard at Holker Hall! Mothballed in 2008, the Victorian stables started life in 1898 as home to estate’s Shire Horses… This Saturday the Yard is being brought back to life for Shire Yard Sounds - we’re nearly ready, come and join us from 4pm. Music from Thieving Magpies from 5pm, beer from Fell Brewery, food from Aupa Burger. What’s not to like?!

I’m looking for a fixture around the Sth.Lakes on 28th May for Ormskirk Occasionals. We planned to host them at Holker Cricket Club but our ground won’t be ready after extensive Badger damage to the outfield, and plumbing issues in the pavilion.

Sound like a good bunch. Can anyone host them?

We look forward to welcoming Walton Le Dale Cricket Club for the first time at Holker Cricket Club in the grounds of Holker Hall & Gardens. Should be grand Sunday out 👍

Hi Everyone!

We’re underway for the summer having played our first fixture this Sunday. We are always looking to increase our membership, particularly our playing membership so please get in touch if occasional, friendly cricket matches played in a beautiful part of the world appeals to you more than the commitment of playing in a league each week.

We’re also on the look out for a new Match Scorer. This special individual will be well looked after (fed and watered) and revered. If this might be you (some experience of scoring cricket matches is required) please do get in touch with me.

Our current fixtures are all saved as events on this page. There will be a few more to follow I expect. Watch this space.

Hi Everyone.

We will be firing up Holker cricket club again from April this year. As an invitational club we are always looking to recruit more playing members. Past players, dads and lads, all-comers are welcome to join us weekly for nets and members can declare themselves available for our friendly fixtures.

Nets is a thirsty business, so we tend to retire for a pint afterwards. It’s a very social centric form of cricket.

We don’t play matches every week, and we really do like to spread the opportunities across all paying members throughout the summer.

It’s our 71st year and we have some interesting plans and ideas in train, to involve the whole community. We are, when all is said and done, just the curators of an established community asset. We are working to keep it at the heart of our community.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in getting involved this summer, for social, sporting or community reasons, please encourage them to contact me. They will be made most welcome.

Congratulations to Keg & Kitchen for retaining the Inter-Club Minicomp Trophy on Sunday. Thanks to all players and associates from Holker, Burneside and Calderbridge who travelled to play and contribute to a great days Cricket. Kudos to you all!!

Burneside & Holker pulled a fixture out of the bag this weekend, after both were hit with cancellations this week. 20/20 format and you can see from the scoreboard it went down to the last ball. Special thanks to Ryan Airey and all the young players from both sides who were a credit to clubs, schools, parents and themselves….
