Llanferres Park and Playground - "Work Out Party" yesterday - Thank you all... and a question?
THANK YOU! Great turn out yesterday in perfect weather conditions - Thank you everyone that turned up. The majority planned jobs completed, plus a few extra done thanks esp. to Owen, Tamsin, Jenny, and only one technical job deferred ... a great outcome, clear evidence of community support, a good work out and a great social occasion as well! Thanks also to those who apologised for not being available.
The Future - IN YOUR HANDS? I know that everyone is busy, but I beg you (especially regular users of the playground / park) to please to think about whether you really value this facility or not? Of the volunteers yesterday, more than half were 60 years or older! They won't be around for ever, so YOU need to step up and get involved.... join the working parties, support our fund raising and become a member of the charity (see QR code on notice board). If the charity and park / playground has to close because of a lack of commitment ... you'll only have yourselves to blame. There is no excuse for not knowing what's happening - and planning time to engage - as we put notices in the park and village, broadcast on social media and by email!
Its a positive picture at the moment, thanks only to a core group of committed people ... but we must plan for succession... so please please get involved!

This is the first of several closures necessary over the next 9 months as we complete a series of new features and maintenance work.
This Saturday we'll be building a timber shelter and installing solar panel, bird box and bug hotels .... we hope to finish the project by late afternoon, but may overrun into Sunday!
On Sat 2nd April from 10am we need you to volunteer to help with general maintenance jobs in advance fo Easter holidays!
Further closures will be needed for 2.5 weeks from Tue 3rd May; and again for 1 day on week commencing 23rd May - when we'll need a lot of volunteers for shifting 40m3 of play bark!
We'll also be closing for a week or two in Sep / Oct for pathwork repairs, but more details announced on that later in the year.
Thank you for your consideration and understanding, and please share closure with anyone who you think might need to know!
