The History of Hough Green Scout & Guide Group
With the new Scout branding being released earlier this week we thought we should the evolution of Hough Green Scouts and Guides with you.
10th Widnes Scout Troop and Cub Pack where first registered as 1st Hough Green on 14th May 1927 and we were meeting at what is now known as St Michael’s Social Club. Back then we were part of Lancashire County whereas now we are part of Cheshire Scouts. It was later in the 1960s that we moved into what we now know as Hough Green Scout and Guide Hut.
In the 1928 annual registration we had 4 adult members, 16 Scouts and 15 Wolf Cubs. Fast forward 90 years to 2018 and we have 21 Beaver Scouts, 22 Cub Scouts, 12 Scouts and 20 adult volunteers in the Scout sections.
