''How to look after my new windows'' is a question that arises frequently - especially when we are required to attend homes where their new windows are having some minor issues. Here are our top tips for looking after your windows:

1. Clean the windows and Frames regularly. Depending on the type of frame, but for UVPC's a mild detergent mixed with water and non abrasive soft cloth. This will retain the functionality of the windows, as well has preventing a build up dirt and grime that can degrade materials over time.

2. Proper Ventilation. This will ensure longevity of your windows and reduces a build up of moisture around your windows that causes mould, damp and mildew. Leave windows slightly ajar when you can and effective extractors and bathrooms and kitchens.

3. Look after the hinges and locking mechisms. So many customers have called us needing help with faulty hinges. Use a lubricant or a silicon spray to spray the locks and hinges and least once a year.

4. Make sure your operate your windows properly! You will be surprised how many clients don't realise that opening windows carelessly or incorrectly can cause future damage and undue stress on the windows causing breakage. Be gentle when you are opening and closing, and don't force a window shut if you are having issues with it.

1. Reduces the risk of leaks & blockages. Keep your gutters clear! Remember to do a walk around visual inspection occasionally.

2. Prevention of serious damage to your home. Clogged, over flowing and sagging gutters can cause serious structural problems internally as well as externally.
