‘Not many people know that’
The most popular song title “Tonight” used nine times by separate acts! Verified by the Guinness Book of ‘Records’!
Vintage leather clad pseudo American Rocker, Vince Taylor (real name Brian Holden from Isleworth Middlesex UK) had a 1959 hit with “Brand New Cadillac” (which was primarily a B side) popped some acid and believed himself to be the new messiah! A young David Bowie witnessed this transformation, and later based his character Ziggy Stardust on Vince Taylor rise and tragic fall. Quite interesting? Interesting Snippet, realising Brian wasn’t really a “rock n roll” name his pseudonym “Vince” was genuinely taken from a fag packet! Can’t g*t anymore rock n roll than that.
Interestingly, Elton John (360 weeks in the UK charts) and Olivia Newton-John (145 weeks) never managed to grab the Number One slot as solo acts. But both obtained the magic position by collaborating with other artists. Olivia with ELO, and Sir Elton with Kiki Dee!
