Banff Primary School
Banff Primary School's page will share updates, upcoming events and news from Banff Primary School.
We celebrated some of the year's achievements at the assembly this week. From learning, to sports, Bikeability and of course our new Life Skills programme. In the short time we have been completing life skills, many have achieved a huge number!
We hope to see many more achievements next year after we have all had a well earned break!
Have a lovely summer!
Primary 5a were very busy a few weeks ago with Bike ability and some 'Art Olympics'. Their artwork was very impressive!
School goes on holiday tonight and returns for children on Tuesday 20 August 2024
Happy Holidays!
🍓 Thanks to everyone for attending and supporting our very successful strawberry tea yesterday. 🍓
Thank you to the staff team for organising, baking, selling, serving and decorating the hall. Thank you also to the P6’s and other pupils who served and sold. And well done to our wonderful choir for singing their hearts out. Thanks to Tesco Banff (Banff In The Community) for providing some of our lovely goodies.
And of course thanks to all Parents and families who attended and supported us on the day.
Funds raised will be used to support the delivery of our Health and Wellbeing curriculum in the Complex Needs Provision and Enhanced Provision next session.
Last week we were delighted to welcome Ray Labuda and his family from the USA. Ray and his wife Susan are from Akron, Ohio, Susan’s sister Lauren Giannone is from New York City. The 2 sisters’ Grandfather, Francis Booth went to Banff Academy, and emigrated to the USA in 1919. In the old photo their Grandfather Francis is pictured outside the old Banff Academy in 1922 ( 2nd from right in 3rd row). The 2 grand daughters were delighted to re create this photo. They loved our beautiful school.
The family have had a very successful genealogy trip to North East Scotland. We were so pleased to be part of their story and we wish them well.
☀️ Remember to apply suncream and bring sun hats. ☀️
For the last time this academic year… our wonderful work walls.
Lots of examples of the variety of learning activities that happen across the school in a week.
Very proud of all our learners.
🌟 A big congratulations to everyone who participated in our Walk to School Challenge this week! 🌟
Your enthusiasm and effort were truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to see so many of you enjoying the benefits of walking to school.
Special congratulations to those who walked and received the "Magic of Walking" bookmark. Your commitment to staying active and healthy is commendable.
Let's keep up the great work and continue making walking a part of our daily routine! 🚶♂️🚶♀️🎉

🌟 Our pupils are buzzing with excitement for our Walk to School Challenge this week! 🚶♀️🚶♂️ This year's challenge, "The Magic of Walking," will inspire children to discover how staying active on their way to school boosts their health, happiness, and our local environment. Let's make every step count! If they are unable to walk to school e.g. they get the bus, they could join us in the p1-3 playground before school. 🌍💚
We hope our P7’s had a fantastic night at their party last night - they certainly looked like they loved it! Thanks to all of the team for organising the event. The P7s did themselves proud. ⭐️
We enjoyed our pizza from Real Tandoori and ice cream from Portsoy Ice Cream who both delivered it to the school. The large selection of sweets from Deveron Direct Ltd.
We had a beautiful neon balloon arch from Bubble Balloons
We loved dancing to the tunes of Starlite Disco. Lots of ‘oldies’ for the teachers too!
The real highlight had to be Photobooth 360 with a whopping 90 videos created!PB360
We wish them all the best at Banff Academy on Monday. 😀
Another week of hard work as the weeks whizz by…

So please like this post to show the impact of our sports week and say thanks to everyone involved.
🌟 Exciting News! 🌟
Our wonderful P2/3 class entered the "If you were an Engineer, what would you do?" competition with their amazing inventions. We are thrilled to announce that several of their creations were accepted into the competition. A special shoutout to Ritchie Donald and Kieran McLeod, whose designs have been shortlisted for the next stage! 🎉
Huge congratulations to all the girls and boys in the class for their hard work and creativity. We are so proud of you all! 👏✨
The weeks are flying by - here’s some of our work this week. Well done!
What a finish to our sports week! We managed to have our rescheduled potted today with things like penalty shoot outs, patintero, catch the tail, hopscotch and beanbag toss.
And the winning house team is…find out at assembly tomorrow!
We invited Mr Mathers in to thank him for funding our P7 trip to the Gordon Highlander Museum. We had a fly cup and a yap with him while we showed some photos from the day. Thanks again we thoroughly enjoyed it.

One of our final activities was curling on Friday. Thank you to Mr Ewen and P6/7 for leading the sessions and Moray Province Curling Development Group for loaning the equipment. It was great to try out something different and again many of us found out we were very good at it!
After a busy week still time to share the work on the wall from last week. Well done to all.
And what better way to end the sports week with an ice pole!
Thank you to our Banff Primary Parent Council for providing them for everyone.
There’s still been lots of work going on at school this week - Primary 1 have really impressed when they wrote about the fun they’d been having this week.
For something a bit different P5-7 tried frisbee golf in the playground. We realised we were actually quite good at it. Primary 5 took their results back to analyse and compare to the par of each hole.
Our resident dancer taught P1-4 some moves to songs like Chocolate Choco Choco, Surfing USA and Raining Tacos. We loved it and wish we could do it more often. Thank you! Maybe p1-4 could teach you some of them at home?
Thanks to Mr Young for organising our bowling sessions at Banff bowling club yesterday. We had some pros but most of us were trying this for the first time. Might have some sign ups to the bowling club soon.
Not the weather we would have hoped for but we enjoyed our competitive sports all the same. Thanks to the Parents who braved the weather to cheer us on.
The first photo shows the determination, perseverance and of course all the encouragement from team mates which kept everyone going.
Well done to everyone taking part today and on Monday also to the P7 helpers who ran the events.
