Our second guest speaker this week will be Chris Sharpe from Falmouth Marine Conservation talking about the work they do with the invasive Pacific oysters.
Look forward to seeing you guys there!
T SHIRT PAINTING TOMORROW!
We’ll be on campus tomorrow after 3pm printing and printing t-shirts and jumpers with our Wild Doc Soc logo. Come find us on the grass outside the Stannary. Bring your own tees/jumpers if you can because we only have a few from the charity shops!
See you there x
Last but not least it’s our Guest Speaker Sec, Amelia Clayton!
Name a voluntary conservation placement - Amelia’s probably done it. She’s currently working on a documentary on Cornish seals and has recently bought a van; a combination that will surely lead to her being accepted into the Godrevy colonies. Loves her dog, loves a surf, loves a party. We can’t wait to see what speakers she’ll bring in!
Katy’s turn 🍂
Position: President
Course: Ecology and Conservation (Third Year)
Introducing our Supreme Leader - Katy Ellis . On of the few of us who actually know what they’re doing here. If you can’t find her out on a ‘light 10k run’, then go back home; she’ll be in your kitchen charming your parents. This email demon will slide into David Attenborough’s dms in a heartbeat and have him working on one of her many projects by lunchtime. Pure drive, pure energy, questionable food choices (blueberry jam is not a substitute for mango chutney). Go check out her podcast for some awesome interviews!
📢 First guest speaker alert! 📢
Excited to announce Paul Badgley, co-founder of will be giving an online talk about the amazing work they do for ocean conservation and science communication. Link to the meeting will be emailed and be in our bio.
Paul is also looking for students to help create a short documentary film with his team. More details to follow in the meeting, but if anyone is interested please email [email protected]
See you there!

“Hi, I’m Lara, I’m a conservation biologist and award-winning wildlife photographer whose research has taken me around the world. From the dry-forests of Madagascar to the tropical rainforests of Belize, and from rhinos roaming the open savannahs of East Africa to the dolphins that glide through the waves in Zanzibar, I am so fortunate to have studied several critically endangered species and worked alongside some of the most passionate and dedicated conservationists that I've ever met.”
She studied Zoology (BSc hons) and then (MRes) Wildlife Conservation at the University of Southampton in the UK.
