Committee 2024/25‼️

Last and definitely not least, our President for this upcoming season is Harry Charvill.

Harry joined us last year on the offensive line and hasn’t looked back since. He has started every game for the Raiders since joining and has proven a reliable protector in the trenches.

Featuring as a captain a couple times in his debut season, we look forward to seeing him continue his leadership role as a permanent captain going into this year.

The Treasurer for this upcoming season is Zain Kabeer.

Zain joined us as a coach last season after the large adjustment in coaching staff in the year prior.

Who better to be awarded the treasurer role than a coach? The team’s sure that his experience in finance will be a useful asset in helping the Raiders success as a club in the future.

We also hope that this year Zain can continue to help the growth of our running backs and potentially have a larger impact on play-calling on offence.

The Welfare Officer for this upcoming season is A***n Saxena

A***n has been a defensive back for the raiders for the last two seasons. Originally a cornerback, his largest hurdle has been adjusting to safety as he grows as a player.

Last year, A***n was a social secretary and through the obstacles and hardships that come with leading the raiders on nights outs (there are many), he has gained leadership within the team.

We hope A***n can use his prior premiership postseason experience to his advantage as he’ll play a key role in being a leading impediment on defence.

The Sponsorship Officer for this year is Theo Kolawole

Theo joined the Raiders as a rookie this year as an offensive lineman. However, it was soon realised his athletic ability would be more suited to wide receiver.

Theo saw game time in both positions and more notably received his first start at receiver in our varsity victory.

The sky’s the limit when considering Theo’s potential at his new position. We hope to see him shine as he gets to grips with his new role.

The Social Secretaries for this year are Ollie Hills and Jude Sale.

Ollie & Jude both joined the team this year, immediately making their presence felt on the field as they both featured heavily in their respective positions.

Beyond their on the field contributions, they have been consistent in attending socials. Whether they may have been dressed up as guide dogs or cheerleaders, they would often be spotted by the Soho pole and the Sinners cage (RIP Sinners).

We look forward to seeing their leadership skills in action on Wednesdays, and we trust this will carry over into training and game days.

The Social Media Manager for the upcoming season is Anton Shashenkov.

Anton joined the Raiders two seasons ago, during our promotion to the Premiership. Since then, he has been a regular scoring threat and a returner on special teams.

Last season, Anton led the team in touchdowns. This summer, he trained with the London Blitz to further develop his skills.

With two years of experience, we believe Anton will be a reliable offensive weapon in our passing game next season.

The Secretary for the upcoming season is Ryan Vale.

Ryan took the reins as starting quarterback for the Raiders last year after missing his first year due to injury.

So far this summer, Ryan played a game for the Staffordshire Surge where he showed flashes of success by winning offensive MVP. Unfortunately, he got injured in his second game.

Hopefully next year will be the third time’s the charm for Ryan, with his Premiership experience helping to guide the Raiders to success.

Jamie joined the club last year, starting as a defensive back before transitioning to linebacker. He quickly became a regular starter and his hard-hitting presence on defence helped him win the teams Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

With this in mind, we hope Jamie can have a strong impact on the pitch this year, unlike his predecessors’ (Victor) dwindling football Instagram presence.

We bid farewell to Ethan Goddard, our defensive coordinator and defensive back position coach. Ethan joined us after playing university football at Swansea University and has since been with us for the past two years.

His tenure began as an assistant coach for the defensive backs and evolved into a crucial role in our defensive scheme, ultimately becoming our team’s defensive coordinator.

His contributions were instrumental in achieving the second-highest scoring defence in the Premiership regular season last year. Ethan’s coaching has enabled our defensive backs to reach their full potential.

We extend our best wishes to him for his future endeavours!

This Sunday, we play our annual varsity fixture against the Northumbria Mustangs. Kickoff is at 3 pm at Cochrane Park with the Raiders looking to end the year with a win.

This Sunday we make the short trip to Durham to play our penultimate game of the regular season.

Kickoff is 4pm at Maiden Castle.

Missed out in Semester 1?

We are holding a Semester 2 Rookie day on Sunday 4th February 2 30pm at Cochrane Park.

No experience in the sport is required, we have a great set of coaches who will help you learn.

Bring plenty of water and football boots (if you have them).

The committee will also be at the refreshers fair this Wednesday from 10am-4pm in the Student Union Building. If you have any questions or just want to learn more about the Raiders come and speak to us!
