Emma Turner Sports Massage Therapy
Mobile Sports Massage Therapist for maintenance of aches/pains/dysfunction, caused by occupation and lifestyle.
I also specialise in treatment to injured tissue after accidents/surgery, including rehabilitation.
I’ll not be replying to work related messages for two whole weeks! Feel free to send them but don’t expect a reply until Monday 5th August. It’s also worth noting that I am still unable to take on new clients for the time being, as I’m trying to ensure that I’m able to look after my current lovely clients in a timely manner!
NO ROOM AT THE INN!
Wow! What a fabulous and busy year it has been! Whilst I am still working up until the 22nd of December, I’m afraid I am fully booked and already have a full waiting list for cancellations. The first two weeks after new year are already pretty packed too. For this reason, in order to look after my current clients, I’m not able to take on any new clients for a little while. Whilst I hate not being able to help everyone, I hope you can understand that I want to give my best to those I am currently working with.
I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have worked hard on your rehab, made tweaks and changes to daily habits and given me so much joy in seeing you take control of your own health and happiness in 2023.
I had it after a spider bite. I spotted it on my husband after an injury during a mud run. Sepsis is serious and more common that you realise. Watch the video, take the quiz and learn something that could save someone you love.
It’s that time of year when Team Turner go on an exciting adventure! This year we head to Japan to support Ross Turner in the World Masters. I won’t be answering any work related messages for the next 2 weeks, while we are making memories. So if you are in pain, please, don’t wait for me to reply! 🇯🇵 🏊🏻
Today I said my final goodbye to the legendary Miss Lorden. My ballet teacher and my friend. I’m so lucky to have known you Sylvia. You will forever remain my role model and whilst I may not be able to dance up the stairway to heaven with such skill and grace as you, I will continue to dance so that I at least won’t trip on it! 🩰
Wow! I hadn’t realised how long it had been since my last post! Here is a little example of the kind of thing I’ve been up to in between seeing my fabulous clients.
I’ve been making sure my knowledge is up to date on TMJD after noticing an increase in the number of new clients coming to me with headaches, migraines and jaw pain.
Here’s a little self assessment for you; when your jaw is relaxed, are your teeth slightly parted and is your tongue gently touching the roof of your mouth just behind your top teeth? If so, then 🙌🏻 😁❤️
Merry Christmas 🎄 to all of my lovely clients. I’ve hung up my gloves and 😷 for a week but look forward to seeing you all in the New Year! 🥂
Those of you that know me well, will know that I believe a lot of your healing depends on what you do AFTER I walk away. This book has been recommended to me a couple of times by people who have heard me talk about mind set, stress, and doing your ‘homework’ after your session. I’m not going to lie, it’s heavy going, but a science based approach wins every time for me. Always learning.
The queen has spoken many inspirational words over her 70 year reign, but this quote resonates with me. Rest in peace.
Just ‘hanging around’ on a Monday night! An aerial class is a fun and challenging way to develop strength, balance and flexibility.
Ross on Wye for walking and canoeing, Dolygaer for gorge walking and the Horseshoe Trail for some mountain climbing. I’d recommend it but it’s taken a couple of days for my muscles to agree! Apologies to anyone who couldn’t get through to me over the last couple of days but I’m back now and with internet/phone connection!
One of the best parts of being in a good professional association is that they encourage CPD. This is just one way they do it. The nerd in me is delighted!
It’s been a while but Team Turner finally got a family ride in. Perfect weather; wet, windy then sunny in rotation, so we dried out quickly and got a few miles in. I’m not going to lie, I was lacking motivation, but getting out together was fun. Who could you get some exercise with to make it more exciting?
I’d recommend a trip to Orlando if you are trying to up your daily steps (between 18 and 24 thousand every day)! I’m back now and have enjoyed catching up with some of my lovely clients this week. Looking forward to seeing the rest of you soon!
I’m finally heading off on a holiday that was Covid cancelled two years ago! I’ll be making magical memories for two whole weeks! I won’t be taking my diary with me and will be completely switching off from work mode while I am away. Please feel free to message but I won’t reply until I arrive home! ✈️
Well, I’m no ninja 🥷 but today I challenged myself and feel good for it- tomorrow I may need a massage though! If you don’t step out of your comfort zone occasionally, then you’ll never know what you are capable of.
First aid updated for another 3 years. Doing my best to keep my fabulous clients safe.
Merry Christmas to all my fabulous clients who have supported my business and made a tricky couple of years much more enjoyable than they could have been! Have a happy and healthy Christmas. # # #
Well, it appears that many agree with Elf’s sentiment, as I am fully booked from now until Christmas. 🎄 I do get the occasional cancellation due to the ‘joys’ of Covid and therefore, have a waiting list for people who may be able to take a last minute appointment. I am now taking bookings from January 5th onwards.
Yes, Self Care Week is actually a thing. We don’t do it enough. Think of one thing you can quickly and easily implement. For me it’s breathing! You would be amazed how many people I tell to breathe in a week! Try it now…
🌬 Relax your jaw
🌬 Take a long, slow deep breath in through your nose, encouraging your ribs to expand
🌬 As you breathe out through your mouth, drop your shoulders
🌬 Repeat! With every out breath, check in on a part of your body and try to relax it.
It’s so simple and yet has so many benefits. Even if you don’t have time for any other self care routine, there is no excuse for not breathing!
This week I have had a few issues with telephone communication as I swapped from one provider to another. A couple of numbers and messages from the last couple of days have disappeared in the process, so apologies if yours was one. If I haven’t replied, don’t take it personally and please try again… I believe the problem is solved! 🤞🏻
Hats off to you absolute fruit loops. 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ 🏃🏼
When the seam on your shirt sleeve splits and you don’t know whether to be proud or annoyed! 😂💪🏻
Team Turner hit the towpaths today. It was wet but worthwhile. However, I think I’ve reached that age where I might need to invest in a bike with suspension! 😬😳😂 Keep moving everyone, despite the less than appealing weather!
I’m going off grid! Heading off to make memories with the family. I’ll have no diary and very intermittent phone connection so feel free to message, but I’ll not be replying until Tuesday.
With the weather cooling there is no excuse not to get moving! Team Turner’s family fitness session this morning.
Covid procedure update
The time has come! It’s official! Both the government and my professional association have given the go ahead for home visits from Monday (April 12th) with all the same strict COVID procedures I was using before the latest lockdown. Tomorrow morning I will begin the epic task of working through my waiting list to get you all booked in. Please bear with me!
Tomorrow I will find out from the government if I can start booking you lovely people back into my diary! I will also need to give my professional association time to put together their advice and guidance and get it out to us therapists. If all goes well then next week all those on my waiting list will receive a ‘ping’ in the form of a text or WhatsApp to arrange your remote consultation before your FACE TO FACE TREATMENT!!! 😀😀😀 To say I’m egg-cited is an understatement! 🥚 🐣 🐥
