Sir Thomas Tyldesley's Regiment of Foote joins the nation in mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
We extend our condolences to all members of the Royal Family and the nation at this sad time.
Serious war faces, everyone!
We’re really looking forward to attacking the ‘castle’ at in Brampton Bryan on 13th/ 14th August. Drop us a message to find out more!
When your pike can’t help but strike a pose!
Our weekend in Chippenham was so much fun - I can’t believe that it was a week ago!
A musketeer will consider a good reenactment display one in which they can fire lots; Chippenham certainly lived up to it!
Home from Chippenham and a wonderful weekend. Not long to go until we return to Brampton Bryan with Hazzard’s and in August. Counting down already!
It’s a beautiful and sunny weekend and we are so excited to be in Chippenham for an event.
It’s completely free for visitors; we will be in Monkton Park.
The living history is open at 11:00 with military displays throughout the day and a large battle reenactment at 3:00.
One of the best things about a long weekend is that it’s got to Thursday already! I’ve been really enjoying seeing photos from the weekend of everyone back together again!
The remnants of battle!
We had such a good time this weekend and it was fantastic to be back meeting visitors and taking part in reenactment displays.
Roll on the next event!
We’re back today! We are setting off from the Curtis Museum at 1:30.
We’ll march through Alton to reach the battlefield at the Flood Meadows and then on to St. Lawrence’s Church for a last stand.

It’s so great to be back. Catch us at the following times:
2:00 - Parade setting off from Curtis Museum
3:00 - Battle reenactment on Flood Meadow
4:00 - ‘Colonel Bolles’s last stand’ at St. Lawrence’s Church
My first muster with the pike! It’s an experience!
We are at Alton this weekend for a whole weekend of free entertainment! Come and see us!!
Getting packed and ready to go!
Why wouldn’t you come to see us at Alton? You can see this guy. And this cannon!
Not long now until we get back outside to reenact the Battle of Alton. Even if you don’t fancy joining in with us, there is a whole day of free events that are definitely worth dropping in on!
Handling those colours is not as easy as it looks!
I can’t believe that the weekend is over! Hope that you have all been enjoying the lovely weather.
Fingers crossed for next weekend!
Only a week to go until Alton! I’m very excited!
You can’t tell me that you wouldn’t want to watch or participate in a reenactment on the actual ground of an actual battle!
Well you can! We will be in Alton, Hampshire on 1st & 2nd May. It’s free to watch AND free to take part! DM to find out more information.
Not long now until the event at Alton on 1st/ 2nd May! We will be there for both days and it free to watch (a whole day of events) and free to join in (if you fancy experiencing the fun!)
We’ve had a wonderful weekend of training with some beautiful weather. Can’t wait to be at our first event of the year in Alton on the 1st/ 2nd May.
We are always keen to hear from anybody who would like to take part with us or anybody who is interested in watching. Both are well worth it!
Really loving learning some new skills at our training event. I’m getting ready to look like a ‘real gentleman’ at the big Alton event on 1st & 2nd May.
All settled in ready to start training in the morning. Camping in beautiful weather with a pint in the pub… can’t ask for more!
Getting ready for a weekend of training! Got to remember how to do it again after 2 years!
A pike division can be very effective at keeping cavalry at a distance. Provided that they react quickly!
Chatting at the weekend has got me all excited for getting back to living history displays (we aren’t all about battle re-enactments!). We really love meeting visitors and chatting about life during the wars.
And, guess what? There is going to be an amazing living history encampment in the grounds of St. Lawrence’s Church in Alton on the 1st & 2nd May!
NEXT EVENT: Battle of Alton, 1st - 2nd May 2022
We are really excited to be returning to Alton in Hampshire (after 2 years of delays!) to mark the battle for the town in 1643.
Alongside the large scale battle reenactment in the Flood Meadows, there are events throughout the day. Visit the living history encampment and watch the final struggle for control of the town at St. Lawrence’s Church.
We’d love to welcome you; DM or visit our website for more details

Sir Thomas Tyldesley’s is one of several regiments in the ECWS. It’s been great getting to work with some of the other regiments this weekend and look ahead to finally, after postponing events for two years due to Covid, getting ready for the new season.
After a hiatus, I’m really excited to be back on re-enacting things again. This weekend I’m at the Officers’ Symposium getting plans together for the new season!
