History Walk - learn about the history of Teignmouth on a short stroll with a museum guide. Each walk will start & end at the museum, lasting about 1 hour. Tuesday the 6th of August and Tuesday the 27th of August. Meet at 11 am at the museum. Adults £3

Here’s a reminder of the road closures and parking restrictions that will be in force tomorrow, Saturday 3rd August, in the centre of Shaldon to keep everyone as safe as possible on Water Carnival Day. Full details can be found on the map below.

As there will be lots of families walking around the beach area all day, and stalls and entertainment on Marine Parade itself, the road will be closed from the Clipper, as will Horse Lane from its junction with Broadlands, from 8am to 6pm. There will also be a short closure of a section of Fore Street and The Strand to allow the children’s fancy dress procession to walk from The Green to the beach at around 1.30pm.

The roads around The Green will be closed from 3pm to midnight with parking suspensions in force from 6am to midnight, so that we can all enjoy our Carnival evening entertainment: family disco, live band and food stalls.

The volunteers who organise our wonderful Water Carnival thank all residents and visitors for their patience and understanding with these one-day restrictions. We have a duty to do all we can to keep everyone safe on Carnival Day, whilst trying our very best to ensure that everyone has a fun and enjoyable day in our lovely Shaldon.

Christmas was kicked off officially last night on The Green in Shaldon. The tree was officially switched on and Singalong Shaldon and Shaldon primary school singers led the merry throng of over 200 in Christmas Carols and Christmas Classics.

Unbelievably brilliant, The hard work that has gone in to all aspects of this event is amazing, Congratulations to everyone involved.

With less than two weeks to go until the Bonfire and Fireworks Evening, on 4 November, Shaldon Parish Council would like to thank its sponsors for their generous donations towards the cost of the event.

Shaldon Parish Council are delighted to announce that the theme of the 2023 Teignmouth and Shaldon Bonfire and Fireworks Event will be “Star Wars”.

The annual family-focused event will take place on the evening of Saturday 4th November, with a big Star Wars themed bonfire been lit on Shaldon Beach at 6.30pm, followed by fabulous fireworks over the Teign from 7.15pm.

This will again be a free community event organised by volunteers to give all families, whatever their financial circumstances, the opportunity to enjoy a fun traditional Bonfire Night celebration. The event is entirely financed by public donations and the proceeds of the BBQ, run by Parish Councillors on Shaldon Beach, so please do give generously to support the event and ensure it can return again next year. There will be lots of bucket collectors in Shaldon on the night of the event and you will also be able to donate online to support the fireworks. Details of the fundraising page will be posted shorty.

There will be the same 3 categories as last year (Boats under Motor; Seine boats and Dinghies; Paddleboards, Kayaks and Canoes), with winner’s cups and cash prizes of £100 for 1st place in each category, £75 for 2nd and £50 for 3rd. 🥳 ⛵️ 🛶 🚤 🎉
