MBC Festival
Annual 2-3 week event to celebrate the communities of Milltimber, Bieldside and Cults. Usually takes place in August each year.
Aimed at all age groups; an opportunity to try new activities for free, meet old and make new friends.
After an enforced break since 2020, most of the Festival committee have now retired, leaving the organising team decimated. Prior to COVID, we had been trying for some time to secure additional committee members and this need is now acute. If we are unable to secure new volunteers by Feb 2023, we believe that the Festival will need to stop.
The MBC Festival has been in decline for several years, with attendee numbers reducing year on year. The decline is down to changing times. Today’s audience has more sophisticated tastes, and both adults and children have many more options for spare time activities, so we have struggled to find events to interest large numbers.
Any new MBC Festival volunteers must represent a local group or organisation, so that we can be relatively confident that any events they organise will be of interest to a specific audience. Unfortunately, our experience is that generic events organised by the Festival committee itself struggle to attract attendance and have therefore run at a loss.
