Rosie has recently started having a mixture of walks and home visits with us. She seems to be enjoying herself so far!

While it was a bit hot last week Annie took the opportunity to do a bit of sunbathing out in the garden during her lunch visit.

Wells has been having morning walks with us while his owner is away. We last walked him in December last year, so it's been nice to see him again.

Annie enjoyed her walk in the shade this morning.

Due to the heat this week Digby only had a very short walk yesterday. He spent the rest of his visit playing in the garden. All responsible dog walkers will automatically change walks into home visits during hot weather. If they don't then switch to us by giving Andy a call on 07837 306824 any time.

Winnie has been out for a walk under some threatening skies at Carr Vale this morning. We managed to avoid getting too wet though.

Bentley has been out for a walk again this week. He's grown a lot over the last year. He was a puppy when he first started short walks.

So I've just been to a local convenience store for a bag of sugar and jar of coffee and they appear to have given it to me in a dog poo bag. I hope it's not recycled!

Dave has been wondering if the council will ever cut the grass? It's now taller than he is!

There are a lot of dog walkers around these days and some are better than others. We often get asked what to look out for when choosing someone to walk your furry friend, so here are a few points to consider...

1. Are they insured? All walkers should be insured in case anything goes wrong.

2. Can they take my pet to the vet?
All walkers should be able to rush your dog or other pets to a vet if they need to. It's only happened to us twice in 5 yyears that we've arrived and found a dog needing medical attention, but it has happened.

3. Do they actually WALK? This is a big one! You may be shocked to hear some walkers don't actually do anywhere near as much walking as they would have you believe. Here at AndyWalks.com all our walks are GPS tracked so we can't cheat and owners get an e-mail with walk details as soon as it's over. If you're thinking of engaging a walker who doesn't offer free GPS tracking, then DON'T! It's as simple as that.

4. Can I contact my walker when I need to? Any reputable walker will always answer their phone 24/7, it's their business after all.

5. Are they working legally? Be suspicious of anyone offering dog walks who wants, cash-in-hand payments or can't/won't accept credit or debit card payments. If they make an offer that sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!

6. Do they leave you stranded during holidays?
Many walkers leave their clients without walks while they go off on holiday. Here at AndyWalks.com we always have holiday cover alailable because we work as a small 3 person team, so we never leave our clients in the lurch. Ask your potential walker if they can guarantee a 52 week per year service.

Winnie was out walking in the woods this morning. It's surprising the number o fallen trees we saw while we were out, including one that was blocking our path. We managed to get around it though.

It was a funny old day for weather yesterday. Raining one minute and brilliant sunshine the next. The photo shows the late afternoon sun near Carr Vale. Lets hope it stays dry today.

The weather has got better as the day has gone on. Winnie is last up today, just finishing her tea time walk.
