I am very proud of this special project created especially for Bankside Hotel and DegreeArt.com 🎨✨ Bankside is where I had my artist residency, the theme was art icons. The hotel has invited 24 artists to design their Christmas baubles, I knew I wanted to feature a Christmas icon that holds a special place in all our hearts. Introducing my self-portrait bauble as Mother Mary! 🌹👩🎨 This powerful symbol represents the essence of Christmas, and without her, the magic of Christmas wouldn't be the same. It's not just a self-portrait; it's a homage to mothers everywhere, recognising their incredible role in making Christmas a truly magical time. 🎄💖 The hotel reveals a bauble each day of Advent and a chosen hotel guest hangs the bauble on the foyer Christmas tree. The aim is for it to feel more like watching an artists’ social than attending an art history lecture. About the artists: Julie Bennett is a portrait painter. Her bold, unapologetically confident portraits of pop culture icons explore the influence of celebrity in society. Josie Clouting is a landscape painter. From man-made cultivated botanic gardens to wild stormy beaches and the rolling hills where she lives. Her paintings are intuitive, emotional responses to her natural environment, inspired by the vastness and wonder of the natural world. Josie Clouting Artist Marie Lenclos is a French painter who has made her life in London since 1995. Her strong figurative urban landscapes focus on the lines, light and colour of familiar streets near where she lives and works, in Loughborough Junction. Michael Restrick is a figurative painter. Focused on human relationships and state of mind, his palette of symbols narrate the scene. Michael Restrick, Artist Michael Slusakowicz (Kibou)is a painter.
