The ladder barrel is a great piece of Pilates apparatus that can be used for various exercises but my favourite thing to do on it is to streeeeetch!
This a small example of some of the stretches you can do!

Stretching daily helps improve flexibility and to develop a better posture overall, it decreases risk of injury and is great for stress relief and to calm body and mind 🌸

Had some time tonight after teaching to work on the so here are some building into !
Great exercises to strengthen the torso and hip flexors (with the teaser) targeting the obliques
quite a lot 😅
I love this transition as I feel I am getting just enough support from the chair to find my teaser👌🏼

Try this exercise to build strength in your legs, stabilise your pelvis and challenge your balance overall!
⚠️ Maintain length through your torso and pull out of your pelvis.
⚠️ Maintain pelvis facing forward, no twisting while moving.
⚠️ Be mindful of your knees and see how far you can go forward and back without causing pain.
⚠️ Brace your core (navel in & up) and maintain your deep abdominal wall connected throughout!

Standing Torso Twists 🌀
One of my favourite ways to mobilise the mid thoracic spine (mid back) and open up the chest 💥
⚠️ Press with the back of your palm into the leg and reach as far away with the opposite arm!
⚠️ Maintain length through the spine and legs stable throughout.

So(u)l the beautiful black cat at was helping me during my reformer session..
How, you ask?!
Well by simply being cute and distracting me in a good way from the pain of some exercises 😁 Ok and showing me how to do a proper cat stretch 🙄
🐈 I love cats and they are always a great reminder that we need flexible spines in order to be functional and graceful in the way we move 🔥

Hinge back adding these arm variations to challenge yourself even more!
👉🏼 This is a great full body exercise working core strength, pelvic and spine stability, hip flexor flexibility and strength and glutes 🔥
⚠️ Keep tailbone tucked under to maintain neutral pelvis throughout the exercise!
⚠️ Lift out of your pelvis maintaining length through the spine. Don't collapse into your lower back!!!
⚠️ Don't hold your breath when it gets hard! Deeper breathing means better connection to your deep abdominal wall so better function of your core whilst moving!

Try this full body exercise to challenge your torso stability whilst building strength in your upper back and legs!
The dog is optional and adds another level of challenge 🐕😋
👇🏼
• Maintain neutral spine throughout the exercise.
• Keep shoulders drawn down the back when leaning forwards for the push up.
• Maintain knee in line with the hips especially when the leg is unfolding. Don't drop the height of the leg!
• Aim for a lengthened line between the head and toes throughout.
• Inhale to lower, exhale to push up, inhale to fold leg, exhale to unfold.
