Celebrating welsh fabrics, championing upcycling and generally having fun being creative.
I’m going travelling soon so of course I need a bag (or two). Matchy matchy using two charity shop coats that were in my stash and an old cagoule of mine and I’m ready to go. A day pack and a handy cross body bag to have all those tickets and passports to hand. Can’t wait.
Upcycling a big tweed jacket with a brown leather sofa. It’s going to be a great bag. 😍
Just finished a upcycled leather from a sofa to a backpack for a customer. Still loving that baby blue, plus check out that lining.
It was a day for tidying up my reclaimed/upcycled zip stash. Cut from charity shop jackets that I buy to make my bags. It’s great to see my drawer of zips replenished and ready to reuse in future projects.
I love making these bigger bags. This is for a recent Etsy customer. I wonder where they are going????
Someone recently gifted me a black 3 seater sofa’s leather. Such a great gift. Lots of leather here. Firstly cut into useable segments, clean and polish then it’s ready to go.
Loving this spring bling. Upcycling jackets to give new adventures to the fabric.
Another sleeve from a laundry disaster merino wool jumper is taken to match another piece of leather sofa… upcycling at its best. A new bag is made with a great backstory. There can only be 4 of these bags ever. One already sold, another 3 available in my Etsy shop
A bit of bling for spring. That was today’s sewing mojo. Dispel the miserable weather by joyful creativity. Upcycled black leather being totally outshone by that glorious soft gold. Oh yes. In my Etsy shop now (link in bio).
It’s a bit like a jigsaw but you get to decide the picture. Here’s today’s fabric choices, 12 pattern pieces and final bag. Spotty spring welsh woollen fabric from such a joy to sew with.
Just finished a cushion for a customer and got out other blankets to make more. Which is your favourite???
I’m getting a lot of love for these beauties at the moment. Made for fitting under the seat in an aircraft they confirm to size regulations so won’t cost a thing to take onboard. It is a backpack that thinks it’s a suitcase and has a good capacity for a long weekend away. Upcycled charity shop coats and upholstery fabric make it strong but sassy. Check out details on my Etsy shop. (Link in bio)
Tah Da!!! is about all I can say. I’m really pleased and took it out for a test walk in the welsh drizzle.
Coming along nicely, learning lots of new things. Taped seams, articulated sleeves, zip pull covers on waterproof zips!! Such Fun
Finally putting scissors to fabric on a sew that I’ve wanted to tackle for a while. Waterproof breathable fabric and a technical pattern. Wish me luck.
One of my favourite makes… Talybont tweeds heritage fabrics. Posted off to a customer this week.
A great pattern for a small grab and go bag. Upcycled tweed and leather jackets. In my Etsy shop now (link in bio)
A smart match up of two charity shop jackets to make one bag. But the sparkle is in the lining. I couldn’t help myself. Thanks .jill for the fabric.
Ooooohhhh looking fabulous dahling. So far so good 🤞🏻
When DIY skills meets dressmaking skills…. Mmmmm I love a bit of upholstery. This is a funky commission for my sister .jill
Such a great welsh blanket to upcycle. It’s a beauty.
And I think I was right…. A good result. Smart little number. 👍👍👍👍
Mmmmm I think this is a great colour combo for a welsh textiles bag
Something a little different this week. Reupholstering a Parker Knoll chair. Fun stuff.
A beautiful slightly autumnal colours cushion came off the sewing table today. Upcycling the last of a welsh blanket that I had.
