Today is an Unearth Day...yay! ✨

We are singing Happy Birthday today for this stunning 1.62ct colour-change cushion-cut Garnet from Kenya, set on an 18ct White Gold band and mounted with two baguette-cut Diamonds to each side. Isn't it just breathtaking? 🤩

It was mined on the 30th May 2017 in Wundanyi Kenya. It was cut by master cutters in Nairobi into the spectacular gemstone you see today!

Did you know colour change garnet is an especially rare and valuable member of the garnet group of gemstones? It is highly desired for its distinct ability to change colour depending on the type of light source with which it is viewed. They are something truly sensational...

This is what my appraisal said⤵️

"They don't come better. This exquisite colour-change garnet hails from the Kamtonga area of Wundanyi in Kenya where some of the finest colour-change garnets in history have been found. The stone exhibits a complete colour change from green to ruby red and is a true Alexandrite mimic. No weak colour shifts here - a true and complete change which is very rare in a garnet which is a singly refractive gemstone. Very rare and a true Collector's Gemstone."

This little stunner now belongs to a wonderfully special lady who is writing the next chapter of this gemstone's unique story! 🫶🏼

Let me whisk you back to my school days...
..a time when my love affair with jewellery ignited into a blazing passion! 🤩

Picture me, spending countless hours crafting jewellery for my school friends using a tiny jewellery-making kit. Those bases for rings and brooches, adorned with sparkling and multicoloured mini crystals—oh boy, how I loved every moment! ❤️

Fast forward some years, and there I was, in my garden with my best friend, both of us entrepreneurs, engaged in a lively brainstorming session for her business. Then, she dropped a game-changing question: "Will you be a Graphic Designer forever?" Without hesitation, I blurted out, 'Nope, I'm going to be a jewellery designer!"

The words caught me off guard—I even covered my mouth in disbelief! 😱 But deep down, I knew I meant every word. Once spoken, it was like a call to action—I had to pursue it!

So, when I hit 40, I took the plunge! I delved into the research, seeking out where I could hone my craft and stumbled upon a fantastic jewellery design Diploma in London. One day a week for a year—pure magic! And you know what? I was so hooked that I got a Distinction in my Advanced Diploma soon after.

Before I knew it, Jade Thomas Jewellery was born, and I swiftly found my groove. 😍 I began finding the most exquisite gemstones, building an entire business around their beauty and allure.

Now, over five years down the line, I've had the privilege of collaborating with remarkable individuals on bespoke jewellery designs and sharing my unique pieces with the most incredible clients. It's been one hell of a journey so far!

With a striking 1.15ct Aquamarine, a 0.12ct princess cut diamond, and other diamonds set into the halo and loop (tot 0.2ct), this is a real show stopper. 💎

The stunning aquamarine in the Melindi necklace is 750 million (yes, million!🤯) years old. Imagine owning something so beautiful with SO much history. It truly is so special. It was mined in Kenya on April 28th 2016.

✨ Fast forward to the late 1860s, diamonds were discovered near Kimberley, South Africa which began the new era of the modern diamond market.

1️⃣ The next trending colour gem will be green! 💚

Of course I love green - you can't be called Jade and not love green stuff! But actually I do really love the amazing scope of greens available to me as a jewellery designer from the lightest, softest aquamarines, to the deepest, most intense hues of a good green tourmaline.

2️⃣ Price resistance will lead to non-traditional stone popularity with designers (me!👋🏻)

There's no denying that certain stones are $$$ sky-high at the moment, but I've always loved looking past the BIG 3 (Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire) to see what magical and beautiful coloured gems are available to us. This is because I want to create something unique and tailored - and my clients feel the same way!

3️⃣ Growing appreciation for independent cutters/unique cuts/ new cuts for traditional stones 💎
