Site visit amongst various meetings yesterday to see progress at our two storey rear extension project in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.

The spaces are taking shape nicely, with the shell & roof enclosing a new sitting room at ground floor, a first floor mezzanine (which will host a freestanding bath tub) together with new dressing room and an en-suite bathroom connected to the master bedroom adjacent.

Always a pleasure watching the craft that goes into laying drystone walling, a real art. The stonework will rise up the face of building where it will meet a feature oak mullioned window assembly, offering views out over the garden and allotments beyond .

progress on site for this zinc clad garden room extension to an existing residence in a Hereford Conservation area

the project aims to establish a physical connection to the gardens beyond through the insertion of a modest but well proportioned addition to complement the existing residence

The roof form draws influence from various examples of hipped roofs in the vicinity that make up the local Victorian vernacular

Approved!

Delighted to have received planning permission for this low energy single storey residence within a disused backland plot in Hereford earlier this morning

The plot is surrounded on all sides with boundary walls and no prevailing outlook, meaning the house works within these confines to create the feeling of a clustered series of spaces peeking outward whilst bringing light inward.

The proposal sees repeating geometric forms in timber frame, wrapped with timber cladding and recycled brick from the remnants of the former garages found on the site.

on the drawing board

preparing to submit a planning application for four dwellings on a redundant former agricultural infill plot outside of Cheltenham

the design concept reflects the established local vernacular of brick, timber and tiled barns and farm buildings in the vicinity, borrowing from the existing clustered ad-hoc courtyard typologies in evidence nearby

centralised permeable paved shared space aims to keep hardstanding to a minimum, prioritising planting and garden amenity space to both front and rear, allowing multiple aspects to each residence, enhancing sense of community

Excited to have submitted the planning application to regenerate the historic Pavilion building at Castle Green, Hereford. Developed working closely with the Friends of Castle Green , the proposals seek to respect the Georgian heritage of the building, whilst creating a modern, accessible, thriving community hub and iconic visitor attraction in the heart of Hereford

The revitalised building will provide cafe facilities and flexible community meeting spaces, as well as the opportunity to celebrate local arts and heritage, together with a revived home for the Hereford Youth Canoe Centre (HYCC). The confusing assembly of piecemeal historical deconstruction, infill and later 1950s accumulations are peeled away, restoring order and legibility to the building. A clear public frontage inviting interaction and exploration of the historic ‘veranda’ combine with the robust, contemporary addition to the setting, wrapped in natural copper that shall develop patina over time, aging gracefully within the landscape setting.

The project has been made possible thanks to a successful £22.4million funding bid for the City of Hereford via the Stronger Towns Fund StrongerHereford . The Pavilion project is one of fourteen projects elected for funding and FoCG has submitted a planning application for a £1.56 million regeneration of this historic building on the banks of the River Wye.
