There's only six days left until we leave for Glastonbury Festival! π€© We're busy putting together our last trader preparations, including sorting out important paperwork, organising our Harbour merchandise and putting up our brand new event gazebo πͺ
Thank you so much to the wonderful community in St Ervan who have donated a range of household items to Harbour π Items such as duvets, bedsheets and toiletries are a great way to help our residents feel comfortable when they first enter Harbour's service π§‘
A huge thank you to Chris, Store Manager, and the team at LUSH UK Truro for making a very generous donation to Harbour Housing 𫧠They have kindly donated over Β£400 worth of personal hygiene products, which will be gratefully used by our Glastonbury team in a couple of weeks and will feature in some of our welcome packs which are given to new residents when they first move in with us! π§Ό

π¨ Renovation update π¨ Yesterday, we had some of the extra soil from our latest renovation project removed, making room for the next stages of this project π¦Ί With thanks to Harbour's building team, it's looking great and we can't wait to welcome people in when it's ready π
Thanks to a couple of our fantastic Harbour farm volunteers, Lola the sheep has been sheared and is ready for the warmer summer weather π Lola was very happy to be reunited with her best friend, Lenny the llama, afterwards βοΈ
Yesterday, we started the week off with some fire safety training π One of Harbour's Housing Management Officers, Chris, has established a regular training session to teach our residents how to reduce the risk of fire and act safely in the event of an emergency π§― Thanks to everyone who came, including a furry friend πΎ

On Monday, some of our residents visited Better St Austell for their first Sport in Mind gym session π§
One of our regular volunteers came in on Tuesday and cooked a hearty meal for our residents and we were visited by our friendly foot clinic volunteers π³π£
On Wednesday, residents went back to Better St Austell for a friendly game of football thanks to our local Community Sports Officer, Steve β½οΈ
Billy, a Harbour trustee, came in on Thursday to deliver his weekly 'Map and Bap' session, and our resident farm volunteers and staff helped to encourage Lenny the llama and Lola the sheep back into their field after they almost escaped our smallholding! π£οΈπ¦
And today, Harbour's brilliant Volunteer and Activity Coordinators took residents on a wellness walk down to Par Beach βοΈ
Anyone for a game of football? β½οΈ Thanks to Steve, our local Community Sports Officer, Harbour has kindly been offered a five-week free sports hall hire at Better St Austell and our residents have been invited to attend their weekly Sport in Mind gym sessions. Earlier, six Harbour residents utilised the first session and got into the community spirit with a friendly game of football π These sessions will encourage our residents to exercise regularly and look after their physical health π§‘
Today, Harbour hosted part one of our 'train the trainer' day with Barnardo's in partnership with Safer Futures βοΈ The attendees were shown how to facilitate recovery sessions using our Conversation Starters toolkit and have been equipped with our handy resources aimed towards getting people talking π§°

Earlier this week, Harbour staff took some residents on a trip to Falmouth to watch a film screening of Lorna Tucker's powerful documentary about homelessness, Someone's Daughter, Someone's Son π¬ It was great to listen to the Q&A afterwards by John Bird, founder of The Big Issue π£οΈ
Today, Harbour hosted our first Resident Forum which brought together a group of residents to represent each of our projects π£οΈ They were invited to speak about their personal experiences, give feedback on the services we offer and indulge in a tasty sausage bap π
Anyone for a slice of cake? π° Thanks to a very talented neighbour at our crisis accommodation project, we have been gifted this amazing homemade Harbour Housing cake! We are so grateful to have such caring neighbours, a small act of kindness can go a long way π§‘
A huge thank you to WUKA for generously donating a range of their brilliant reusable menstrual products to Harbour for our residents π As it's Menstrual Hygiene Day, we used these donations as the conversation starter for today's Talk and Tea session at our EVA project to facilitate important conversations around menstrual health and education. Everyone deserves access to menstrual products π§‘

Harbour's in-house building services team have been hard at work in the sunshine recently at our current renovation project βοΈ They are building an extension onto the property so we can accommodate and support as many people as possible who have experienced homelessness π§±

Sleeping rough in the summer means being more exposed to the sun and heat which can lead to dehydration, heatstroke and exhaustion.
Help us protect people sleeping rough by donating suncream and sunhats to our resource centres in Truro and Penzance π
