Having visited The Fuggeria yesterday I was fascinated by the variety of ornate door pulls, all different for each home. Turns out at night there was no light in the medieval street so each resident could find his way home by feeling the door pulls (Fuggerei is located in the Bavarian city of Augsburg and is considered the oldest social housing project in the world. It was founded in 1521 by the wealthy merchant Jakob Fugger, and to this day it provides housing to Augsburg residents in need.)
