"WES has been fundamental in providing the chances to network across the faculty and find like-minded creative people in STEM. As a female engineer, I have been so fortunate to have had such a support system of women during my degree, gaining invaluable advice and mentorship from both students and staff, whilst having the opportunity to try new things and have fun!" - Darcey 🧭🎨
"Because of the support I've had at WES, it has helped me gain confidence and feel like I deserve my place in such a competitive and male dominated environment" - Letty 🌈🦾
"The gender gap in engineering is still really bad so I want to do my part to encourage and support women in engineering. I am proud to be a female engineer and I want to help other women feel confident and secure in their positions" - Isobel🚀🛰
"Joining a community of women in engineering was so pivotal to me in my personal and professional development at university and beyond. The network there for both support and academic development has been fantastic with the various individual backgrounds, multidisciplinary nature of engineering courses and varying life experiences. It’s been amazing to connect through our shared experiences and desire to make changes for future girls to follow in our path, be that through mentoring at school level or helping change the industry environment to be more modern and inclusive. The members I have met on my journey in WES will surely be my friends for life and I can’t wait to watch us continue our journeys in striving to be role models for future women in engineering" -Hayley⚡️🫶🏻
“The more experience I gain as I progress in years at university and gain industrial experience, the more I realise the significance of maintaining a strong community. In particular, providing a safe space for minorities in STEM to learn from each other's experiences, to share advice, and ultimately inspire the next generation. I believe that every woman is a role model, and through this empowerment, we will change the face of the workforce to come”
Niki ✈️🛰
It’s been lovely meeting you all so far, more events to be confirmed soon! 🌟
