"Aaase Yaa - Mother Nature pregnant with pain in her heart. Suffering the Spiritual agony of childbi I lost a baby late in my third trimester in February 1979.
After hearing about the Scottish charity 'Loving hands', I learnt about the wonderful work they are doing to support other charities and organisations in need. Fo five years they have knitted, croched and sewn items for children in hispital & cancer sufferers, they respond to letters from abroad asking for help in disaster areas where children and their familes have lost everything in floods, fire
s and other disasters. I joined the charity when I heard that children born too premature to survive were needing blankets & burial items. I still remember every part of that day even though 30yrs have passed. I was never asked what I wanted to happen to my baby, it was taken away and 'disposed' of with the hospital trash. At the time I was in no state to argue about this and besides that, it was common practice.
30yrs later, times have changed and now women can make choices about the baby they lost. There are so many women who carry the pain of loss inside them. This is regardless of how the baby was lost - there is no judgement from our temple.
