For the walk you take the local train (Cark in Cartmel, which is a five min walk) to Arnside. join the walk and walk back across the sands to Kents Bank Station.

rated 10/10 This is a very well presented and comfortable cottage containing everything you could possibly need and more. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Communication with the hosts is excellent and they are keen to help in any way they can. They will spoil you with extra treats. We loved the on site parking on a flat street with good access and enjoyed the attractive small garden with table and chairs. Having a clothes line and pegs is a bonus. Flookburgh is quieter and easier to negotiate than the tourist hot spots yet in easy travel distance, we were pleased with this choice. There is a small convenience store, bring any major food items with you. The local hotel was not serving meals at the time so cannot comment on that option.

rated 10/10 Simply everything. From arrival to departure we were very well looked after by the hosts with reassuring helpful welcoming messages via booking.com. The cottage was spacious, clean and equipt. We didn't want or need for anything whilst we were there. From dog biscuits, bin bags, dog bowls, milk ,fresh orange juice shampoo , conditioner, iron, I could go on and on. EVERYTHING was thought of. Even a games cuboard! Dining room table we found a welcome book which helped us plan our 3 day stay as a family of new baby and dog we weren't stuck as everywhere was dog and baby friendly. There was a pub down the road called hope and anchor which was walking distance, nice lovely staff but we preferred the pheasant Inn for food which was 5 min drive. One small shop in village and a bakery. Perfect for dog walks, just be careful if you have a wandersome dog, there was no gates front or back of property (this isnt a critisim) it's just the way the property is designed. We walked to cartmel, through the forest from cark from flook burgh there and back it was about 12km but there are many dog walks to be found (all trails, komoot) . Short drive to ulverston and consiton for days out. Lots going in in the summer in this area from country fairs, antique fairs, horse racing etc. Take a drive to majushri Buddhist temple near bardsea its beautiful! We can not wait to come back we loved every minute!

rated 10/10 Wonderful stay! Everything was thoughtful and perfect - from flowers and milk on arrival to games and books in the cupboard. The place is beautifully appointed and spotless, everything looks brand new. Hosts were communicative and helpful. Location is fabulous, close to a train station and an easy drive to Windermere, Ambleside etc but plenty to do locally as well. 10/10

rated 10/10 It is no joke this cottage IS absolutely exceptional! The owners of the property have clearly looked at every aspect of a potential visitors experience and requirements from the front door onwards and met and exceeded them all. Every square inch of the property has been organised and presented to both be aesthetically pleasing but also very useful for temporary visitors. It is mind boggling how they have produced a property with modern bathroom, kitchen complete with every gadget you can think of, and yet everywhere you look the pictures, the Victorian bed frames, the furniture, the old suitcase on top of the wardrobe, the old Victorian ironware used as doorstops and so much more that make you feel you have somehow travelled in some time machine back a hundred years or so. It is a very comforting illusion despite you having wi-fi, USB sockets etc etc all around you. The property is pretty much at the centre of the small but busy Village of Flookburgh and within a 10 minutes walk we found 3 Pubs , a general store, and a fish and chip shop/Chinese take away. We had a meal at the Engine Inn and were very impressed. The owners also left us a welcome pack of wine, milk and others things which was a lovely touch. The sitting room had a functioning log-burner which we did not need to use but I can imagine it being amazing on a late autumn or winter stay. It is an easy 30 minutes drive from places like Coniston or Windermere.

How very lovely to receive these two 'thank you' cards from recent guests! We even had the added bonus of taking care of Pablo🐩, whilst his owners took a well deserved break at Rogan in Cartmel.

Today we had our lovely new double glazed sash windows fitted at the Stopping Point. They look beautiful and add to the character and charm of the cottage. It's always been important for us to keep a traditional feel to the place. look forward to seeing you soon xx
