This kitchen/diner and utility had the full works, filled, sanded and more filler again. Plenty of sanding involved as the previous paint on the walls was silk 🤢. Finally after plenty of prep these 2 rooms started to look totally different with a new colour on.

Take a look at this stunning period property in hunwick we recently completed. The staircase had a yellow silk ceiling and dark brown silk walls. After a lot of prep work and filling to bring the walls back up to a good standard we moved into the sun room and prepped the ceiling and walls in there aswell ready for some paint.

This new build had the full treatment, all walls and woodwork sanded back to eliminate all the imperfections, filled and sanded again. Spot primed all the filler on walls and woodwork then applied out top coats.

What can I say about this kitchen/diner we’ve been working on up Bowes. Pictures speak for themselves. We’ve now done a few rooms in this house and returned to re paint this kitchen diner. Upon starting to prep the room we realised the previous painter had done a terrible job, paint on the floor tiles, cutting in was shocking, imperfections on walls and woodwork. So first things first we started filling and sanding until we achieved that lovely smooth glass like finish on the walls and woodwork. Just take a look for yourselves at the finished product. While we were here we also sanded down and re oiled the oak staircase.

Unfortunately over the weekend, I have had an accident which has resulted in an extremely swollen and infected kneecap.

I’ve had to make the extremely difficult decision to take some time out this week to try and speed up my recovery

Inevitably this has pushed my schedule behind. As disappointing as this is both to my customers and myself, I will do my very best once recovered to pull my diary back into line.

This is the latest project we’ve been on with over the past 2 weeks. This new build in the miller homes estate in school Aycliffe has had a full transformation. All walls and woodwork filled and then sanded using the Mirka UK Ltd dustless sander, giving that lovely smooth finish.

Paints used were Tikkurila optiva 5 matched to F&B moles breath on the walls and Johnstone's Paints aqua undercoat and aqua guard satin on woodwork. The wall mural is from Graham & Brown and really helps give this staircase the WOW factor.

Here is a big job we completed before Christmas in windmill bishop Auckland. This very large living room has been totally transformed from bare plaster to a beautiful warming living space.

🔹 mist coated
🔹 filled and sanded back any imperfections using our Mirka UK Ltd dustless orbital sander
🔹 2 coats of Tikkurila optiva 5 hardwearing Matt, light sand in between coats
🔹 woodwork primed, filled, sanded, undercoated
🔹2 top coats of Johnstone's Paints aqua guard satin

Results and finished product are outstanding, I will upload pictures of the other rooms we have done over the next few days aswell.

Seen as though it’s Christmas and I’ve actually had some time off I’ve managed to get my bedroom finished off.

The bedroom was all stripped back, new cables ran for sockets and lights etc, freshly plastered, new furniture fitted.

Ceiling and walls were all primed using Tikkurila optiva primer, sanded back lightly using a 240 grit on my dustless sander. It then had 2 coats of Tikkurila optiva 3 ceramic hardwearing Matt sanding between each coat to allow for that glass like finish. All new woodwork was sanded and primed, it was then undercoated black, using Johnstones aqua undercoat and then 2 coats of Johnstones aqua guard satin, sanding in between coats again for a flawless finish

Colours used are
🔹Tikkurila v487 on ceiling and walls
🔹 F&B pitch black mixed into Johnstones aqua system for the woodwork

It’s took some serious hard work and time to get this bedroom finished in between all my other work, working late nights etc but I’m over the moon with how it turned out.

Here is the kitchen/ diner and utility from the full house redecoration we’ve been doing in Durham gate estate Spennymoor.

This kitchen looks absolutely stunning now and what a transformation it has turned out to be.

All ceiling, walls and woodwork dustless sanded, all defects filled and sanded again. We spent multiple hours on the prep work alone to make sure this kitchens decor looks second to none. Looking at the pictures you can see this room is literally stunning throughout.

Colours used are
🔹 dulux heritage Indian white
🔹 dulux heritage indigo blue feature walls
🔹 woodwork Johnstones u/c and aqua guard satin.

We are now finished this full house redecoration just need to go back and get some more pictures of the master bedroom all complete. People ask me all the time do I love what I do, basically the answer is YES. Especially when you get to see the change in transformation and most of all the smile on the customers face knowing we’ve achieved what we set out to do and that’s give the customer exactly what they ask for.

Here is a job we have just completed in the Durham gate estate in Spennymoor. This hall, stairs and landing has had the full works top to bottom. All ceiling and walls sanded using the mirka dustless sander. Woodwork had started turning yellow due to the use of an oil base gloss, so all woodwork was sanded back removing all imperfections left behind off the site painters. We then applied a coat of waterbased undercoat specifically designed to cover well and give high adhesion on top old oil based gloss. We then filled all the walls and woodwork ready for the colours.

On this job we used the dulux heritage range which is a class 1 scrub rated hardwearing durable Matt that gives a lovely velvet finish to your walls. Colours were

🔹 F&B cornforth white mixed into dulux heritage
🔹 Dulux bowlers hat mixed into the Dulux heritage
🔹 Johnstones aqua waterbased undercoat
🔹 Johnstones aqua guard satin

As you can see from the pictures this staircase is now a stunning stand out feature, we are also painting the rest of the property so will upload the pictures as we get the rooms done.

Completed this job in Coundon a few weeks ago. This customer contacted me after having another local decorator in previously before me and not been happy with the work carried out or the finish product. Nothing worse than speaking to a customer who’s spent there hard earned money hiring a professional trades man in and not getting the job they’ve paid for. I went round and spoke to her, gave her my professional advice on what materials to use that will allow for that superb finish that she should of got in the first place. We spent a week alone stripping back all the woodwork, this was due to the lack of sanding by the previous dec and no undercoat used at all. 2 coats of gloss on top of old yellowed gloss is a big NO NO. We cleaned all the old paint off the sockets, door hinges, door stops, radiator valves, lights the list goes on. Sanded all woodwork right back. We then applied 2 coats of undercoat and 2 top coats. Walls all filled and sanded to get rid of any imperfections and them heavy brush marks. 2 coats of a hardwearing Matt that also gives a flawless flat Matt finish eliminating any flashing that may occur by light coming in the room.

We spent many of man hours prepping and prepping and prepping to get the job to where it is today. Needless to say this customer was over the moon and we also helped put faith back into trusting trades people, there is good ones out there. Materials used were

🔹 Johnstones perfect Matt on the walls
🔹 tikkurila everal aqua 40 on the woodwork.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. We’ve just been so busy.

Here is a stunning kitchen/diner and living room that we did a while back in woodham. All original colours were valspar, this returning customer of ours wanted something a bit more hardwearing that would last longer and give her that scrub ability factor whilst also giving us the desired finish that we aim for, so there is no other choice but use the best and that is optiva 5. Walls all sanded using our dustless . Panelling and woodwork all sanded using the aswell. Undercoated and finished with a Johnstones waterbased aqua guard.

The pictures speak for themselves and the finished product was looks absolutely stunning.

Something a little bit different this week in newton aycliffe and the finished results really do make a statement. Hall, stairs landing, kitchen diner, utility and dressing room.

As usual all areas filled and sanded using the dustless mirka set up giving us that lovely smooth finish on the walls and woodwork. As you can see by the pictures the ceilings on the staircase are painted blue to allow for that statement feature as soon as you walk in. Staircases can be quite a tricky area to get right with light etc and not having any natural light but This one works really well.

All paints used on the walls are optiva 5 hardwearing Matt. Colours are
🔹 F&B stiffkey blue on ceilings and kitchen
🔹 F&B wevet on staircase walls
🔹 Johnstones aqua undercoat and aqua guard satin for the woodwork.

Here is a kitchen and bathroom we have been on with. As you can see by the pictures the plasterer didn’t do a very good job, leaving holes and also patching the walls in very badly. Bathroom walls were peeling due to not having a mist coat on the new plaster. We had to scrape it all back off, sand walls and apply a mist coat and start from fresh. The plumber had siliconed round the skirting boards making it a nightmare for us. We dug all the silicone out filled sanded and caulked. As you can see by the pictures the prep work we did on this job was extensive but just look at the finished results. Flick through the pictures and see for yourself

On this job we used zinsser permawhite, a special moisture resistant, mould resistant paint giving a durable wipeable surface and class 1 scrub rating
