Day 10 π SMALL DETAIL π
Heres a cat commission from back in December that I forgot to share! I was so sad to hear that this was going to be a memorial cat brooch: in memory of Murdo the cat. See the next image to see him compared to the finished piece π§‘
I really enjoy adding in as much detail as I can to the custom cats, it can be very fiddly to do as the details often need to be painted on with a toothpick! I also use nail art brushes to achieve small details.
Cat jewellery is available on my Etsy shop (QuirkyCreationsAM) as brooches, necklaces and even tinier cat earrings! These are super fiddly to do when painted! But I have also made custom cufflinks for someone (if you look at my Instagram profile you will find these and many other examples of custom cats I have done. I have alot of fun painting them π§‘
PM me if you are interested in your own custom cat piece
Handmade cards with lasercut acrylic flowers. (Made by using up the holes cut out from my party ring designs!)
These are blank inside and each one is unique. They would be great for many occasions, but I was thinking about promoting them since mothers day is coming up this weekend! π

Day 3
π BELIEFS AND VALUES π
I love to see the reactions when people see my jewellery and immediately say 'Awww so cute!' I've really missed that with there being no physical events.
I believe that when wearing something cute and happy just makes you feel good. I've had so many lovely compliments when I wear my designs and that always really brightens my mood π
I believe in being as eco-friendly as possible, so I always try to use every last piece of acrylic. As i'm also a total hoarder of things, I keep all the leftover acrylic sheet bits, so looking into how I can use all of it up into something new π
Also really looking forward to warmer weather so heres some happy ice-cream jewellery, now also available as collar pins!π¦
Day 2
π STYLE π
My jewellery is inspired buy the super adorable Kawaii style!
I just love everything cute and fun! Here are some of my brooches on one of my favourite cosy jumpers! These are all available from mg Etsy shop π QuirkyCreationsAM
Hey everyone, Its March! πΈ
Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. I've been finding it hard to be motivated atm. Now that springtime is approaching it's making me feel like trying to start doing things again.
I thought I would try to join in on the insta challenge by to get me going again! π
So heres my Day 1: Brand introduction:
I was introduced to laser-cutting while I was studying 3D Design (jewellery) at Grays School of Art, working on a project based on illustration and children's stories. And I was hooked! Fascinated with the process of being able to transform something I've drawn into a 3D piece! π
A few years after Graduating, I decided to start selling some pieces I had made for my degree show aswell as some extra pieces I made to sell at my first ever craft fair: . I had just come up with the name 'Quirky Creations by Ashley Morris' for this fair!
Things started to pick up after this and went on to do many more regular fairs. I then had the amazing opportunity to join 'Make' which was a Digital Studio on Belmont Street ran by where I could do more laser-cutting! I then had the idea to create my layered biscuit and mug designs, which were so popular! And I still love making these designs. I have since branched out to include more food types, animals, everyday objects and nature. π±
I am inspired by Kawaii style and Japanese stalls I visited from various comic conventions.
I just love cute things with wee faces! π
I am currently considering changing my business name, so watch this space! I have had an idea so I will be working on new logo designs and looking into changing over soon! (Once I've used up my existing packaging and business cards!!π€£)
My Story
Welcome to Quirky Creations by Ashley Morris!
Ashley creates super cute laser-cut jewellery and accessories using colourful acrylic and wood, tote bags, art prints and stickers, and more!
How itβs made
Everything starts with a list of ideas, then they are drawn in sketchbooks or straight on to the computer using Adobe Illustrator. The designs are then laser-cut by Ashley in Aberdeen at Peacock Visual Arts digital fabrication sudio - Peacock Digi. Ashley uses the machine herself, including all the settings for cutting or engraving, colour coding each line depending on whether it will be cut or engraved while also thinking about the order which it needs to be cut (cutting faces and any inside shapes before the outline or the shape will just fall through).
The pieces are then carefully assembled in layers using a high quality super glue or resin glue for perspex pieces. The assembled pieces are then sorted into tubs which will then become jewellery. The pendants and earrings are drilled using a pin vice (hand drill) for gluing in hooks which are cut to size and made by hand bending wire, and all of the perspex brooches are sanded underneath to help secure the brooch parts etc.
