Another rare pistol this week. A C**t 1911 service pistol, this one dates from 1914 and is chambered in .455 Webley Auto.
Alterations to the chamber and magazine from the .45ACP 1911's was straight forward as the .455 Webley Auto and the .45ACP cartridges were very similar in size, the .455 however was less powerful. The early pistols were issued to the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Horse Artillery, later models were issued to the Royal Air Force and marked RAF.
The serial number indicates this is an early example.
The pistol is in excellent condition considering it's 110 years.
Today we have a very interesting project that has just been finished. The pistol is a Bergman No3, a rare pistol because it has a factory fitted fixture for attaching a stock. What makes this one even rarer is that it has it's original holster, not only that but this is a shoulder stock holster.
The name dates this pistol in use with the shoulder holster to 1901, when the owner A J Brand was a Boer War prisoner.
After over a hundred years of wear and tear, the attachment device from the holster was completely missing and the internal metal brace and leather covering were damaged beyond repair.
It has been interesting to say the least, with only 2 photographs from an auction site of a similar but not exactly the same holster(a No5), we have managed to manufacture a bespoke attachment device for the holster. A new steel frame covered with leather has restored the ridigity needed to the holster.
Without an original this is our interpretation and allows the shoulder holster to be attached to the pistol to show the original intent.
Just completed and ready for finishing a small batch of 5 port .3 magnum calibre muzzle brakes.
Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, with ports designed to flow gases to the side and vertically to reduce muzzle lift and mitigate recoil.
The main body is 29mm diameter and the locking nut is 35mm so well suited to heavier barrels, the muzzle threads are M18x1 and self timing.
Just finished through the workshop this week are these little range beasts
2 Bergara B14 .22LR re-barrelled with Phoenix Barrels 5R cut rifled straight profile 14 twist barrels, many thanks to Phoenix Barrels for providing a replacement in such a short time when a courier misplaced a barrel. Both 24" finished length, the MDT XRS chassis rifle is finished with a EC Tuner V2. The other in the AI AT-X chassis is not threaded but has a recessed crown, just in case close encounters with stage props happen when the owner is competing for Team GBPRA.
Last but not least is a Zermatt Arms Origin action fitted with a Brux, cut rifled 7.5 twist heavy taper barrel, finished at 26" and threaded 5/8x24, chambered in 6 GT.
These rifles are going to be taking part in UK and International PRS competitions, look out for them and don't feel too upset seeing them take the trophies, why not contact us for your next build.
Dressed up and ready to play... This is the second MPA Elite rifle that have been completed by GTAC.
MPA Elite/ARC Coup de Grace action, MPA Elite profile Barrel, 1in7twist finised at 26" it is threaded 5/8x24 and is finished off with an MPA DN5 muzzle brake.
The Elite actions are super smooth, please don't make the mistake of trying one even in jest, as you will be hooked.
The heavy barrel profile has been developed to give a great mid position balance to the rifles without the need to stack the chassis full of weights, but if that's what you want then feel free to load the MPA Matrix Pro with more weights than you can shake sporter barrel at.
There has been a serious amount of R&D that has gone into these chassis's and rifles by MPA, so don't be fooled into thinking there needs to be just a one size fits all solution, the times they are a changing.
Just finished today 2 MPA Elite barrelled actions and maybe one of the first MPA Elite rifles fitted into Matrix Pro chassis in the country, and what a striking colour combination it should be on the cover of Vogue.
The MPA Elite/ARC Coup de Grace action is so slick, control feed, mechanical ejection, integral recoil lug and rail, a trigger shoe that allows adjustment of the trigger sear engagement.
The 1 in 7 twist MPA barrels have been chambered and fitted by GTAC in 6 Dasher.
These rifles will eat the leader boards this year, and they are destined for the podium wherever they perform.
The rifles have been made for two of the UKs leading PRS shooters in both Open and Factory disciplines, what a way to start the new UK MPA team, GTAC Engineering Services wish to offer their condolences to all other competitors when these hit the range.
If you want to learn more about Team MPA UK, head over to the MPA UK distributor C2 Precision
A GTAC 4 port self timing muzzle brake fitted to a straight pull LMT.
The Pheonix 1 in 8 twist, stainless steel cut rifled barrel has a GTAC designed profile, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and finished at 26".
I have 1 LMT LM308 unmachined barrel extension in stock, ready to be fitted to a barrel and machined to your LMT.
Happy New Year to all.
Today we have a very rare pistol receiving some love and attention.
The Webley Mars was a bit of a handful and was described by the Captain in charge of the tests at the Naval Gunnery School in 1902 as "singularly unpleasant and alarming" and anyone who fired it once didn't wish to fire it again.
The complexity of the pistol is evident when stripping down this was another reason for it being rejected as a replacement for the Webley Scott revolvers favoured by the War Office.
This is an early example with no markings, numbered 12, there were around 80 pistols manufactured in total which adds to the rarity. This is an 8.5Mars chambered pistol which has a 3 lug rotating bolt the majority have a 4 lug arrangement.
Just finished, a prototype 7.62 flash hider for a clients AR platform 7.62x51.
Next will be a custom BFA
An interesting project, make a magazine for a pistol.
Then you realise that the pistol is as small as it is rare.
A 2.7mm kolibri, made around the turn of the 20th century these fi****ms are purse sized.
The pictures speak for themselves next to a .22LR cartridge the 2.7mm Kolibri round is dwarfed.
Something tells me this will be interesting.
Congratulations to Josh Martin for a podium place at the DLR Dynamic Long Range Finale in Italy with a Phoenix barrel chambered and fitted by GTAC.
If you want kit you can depend on, please get in touch, we may be able to help you on your journey to the podium.
Phoenix barrels making an impact over in Italy at .dynamic.long.range. Well shot .precisionrifle for getting on the podium!!!!!
In fact, we’ve sent a few barrels over to Italy now……. Hopefully see a few more being used over there now.
Another HK day. A 9mm MP5k barrel machined with the addition of 1/2"×28unef threads to allow a moderator to be fitted.
What is better than a Zermatt Arms Rim-X? I hear you say!
Well, 3 of them I say!
It has been a bit of a .22LR sort of week.
The top 2 are destined for a trip to Italy at the end of August.
Two members of the GBPRA team heading for the IPRF PR22 World Championships have decided that a Rim-X action will give them an edge.
The first is 26" AT-X profiled 14 twist barrel is a cut rifled 5R Phoenix stainless.
TriggerTech diamond 2 stage trigger is fitted to give each shot a crisp send off.
A 30MOA scope rail has been fitted.
The barreled action has been bedded to its AI AT-X chassis, there are lots of screw holes and side mounting points that need to be left accessible but the bedding has resulted in a solid platform for the action and will help to withstand the knocks from hard competition use.
Next up is a 24" T1 profiled Phoenix 5R stainless cut 14 twist barrel. The muzzle has been threaded 1/2"x28UNEF.
A TriggerTech Special 2 stage trigger has been fitted.
Last but not least, a 22"ish T1 profiled Phoenix 5R stainless cut 16 twist barrel. The.muzzle has been threaded 1/2"x28UNEF.
A TriggerTech Special 2 stage trigger has been fitted.
Chambered in a standard .22LR chamber.
I am sure the whole GBPRA will do us proud and I wish them the best of luck, a special shout out though goes to the owners of two of these rifles.
We have taken a little time out from building rifles and other work for our trade and retail customers to finally put this firearm together.
A Defiance Machine Tenacity action fitted with a Brux barrel,1in8" twist, cut rifled 4 groove with a heavy MTU profile. Finished at 26" long with M18x1mm muzzle threads this has been chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, a very capable cartridge for game, target and PRS, the availability of top quality ammunition and components makes it a popular choice.
The Tenacity actions have integral machined recoil lugs which along with tight tolerance on the one piece bolts help to hold 0.001" between actions the 20MOA rail is dowel pinned and screwed to the action.
The action has been bedded into the AI AT-X chassis, although the chassis is well made the action to chassis contact area is minimal, bedding the action has given an increase in matting surfaces which makes for a solid stable connection. It took a bit more thought when machining the chassis and also when applying the Devcon to allow for solid seating but also to still allow the chassis to be stripped down if required.
The rear of the chassis is enhanced by the GTAC rear bag rider which will help stabilize the rear of the rifle when shooting using a rear bag or rest, originally designed by GTAC for the AX and AXMC they also fit well on the AT-X and of course the AICS AX and AT-X chassis.
The GTAC folding hinge allows the buttstock to be folded either to the left or to the right.
Finished in red and blue this rifle will catch attention on the range even before it is shot.
The trigger is a TriggerTech single stage Special with a flat trigger blade, that has been set with a 1lb pull weight, the great thing about TriggerTech triggers is the crisp break regardless of what pull weight has been set.
A GTAC stainless steel 3 or 4 port muzzle break will help to tame the recoil.
This rifle can use both AICS and AW magazines.
This rifle will make a great range tool, contact GTAC for further information.
AR platform barrel finished today. Chambered in 7.65 Parabellum.
Moderators, sometimes you just have to make your own.

Out testing a new barrel on an old CZ 455.
Green mountain .22 finished at 25" , 26mm straight profile, the chamber is a standard Mansons .22LR with 0.03" jam. Face of the barrel has been machined to help with dirt and powder residue.
The first 3 groups at 50mtrs and not even dialed the tuner yet, SK Long Range Match.
