Bucks Invitational League

These are the result from the finals day on Sunday.

A massive well done to everyone involved. It was great to have hundreds of girls playing rugby and having fun.

A huge thanks to the hosting clubs - Banbury, Buckingham, Chinnor and High Wycombe.

Thanks to all of the referees who allowed the matches to happen as well as all of the coaches and parents.

These are the final league positions from the U16 and U18 Bucks Invitational Leagues.

Well done to everyone who was involved.

It is Finals Day this Sunday with lots of girls rugby being played across four venues. It will be a great day of girls rugby with lots of rugby being played and fun being had.

Thanks to Banbury RFC, Buckingham RUFC, Chinnor RFC and High Wycombe RFC for hosting.

There will be hundreds of girls playing rugby with medals for all players at U12s and U14s, with trophies/shields for U16s and U18s.

We believe that rugby offers good value but there is an initial cost to getting all the right kit which not everyone can afford.

The Bucks Girls Rugby Charity has a fund available to help several girls get the kit they need. The kit will include -

• Gum Shield
• Rugby Ball
• Rugby Shorts
• Rugby T-Shirt Training Top
• Socks
• Rugby Wet Weather Contact Top

To make sure this kit is going to those who would most benefit from it, we ask for confirmation that the player is on Pupil Premium. If the player is not eligible for this, please upload evidence to show why you believe they would still benefit from this, and we will review this on a case-by-case basis.

These players continue to impress. Not just performance but also attitude.

A massive well done to everyone involved. Absolute class throughout the squad. Everyone worked hard and played as a team.

Didcot and Wallingford played hard throughout and put us under pressure a number of times.

So proud of the effort.

Not too long until our next Schools Tournament is happening. It will be at Aylesbury RFC on 5th December 2023, starting at 3pm.

The previous events have been amazing and we're hoping this to be our biggest one yet.

We want to have new schools and new players involved. If you're an U14s girls rugby player at a school, talk to your teacher about putting a team together and coming along. If you're a local club, speak to your local schools to get them involved.

Let's all work to keep growing girls rugby in the area.

We are delighted to announce the initial squad for Bucks U16 Girls DPP for 2023/24.

We were really impressed with the standard of everyone trialing and we are really excited for the season ahead.

As this is an ongoing programme, there will be further opportunities for other players to join later in the season.

We currently have funding to support 5 schools within Buckinghamshire to start a girls U12 rugby programme.

We will provide RFU qualified coaches, an equipment starter kit and the chance of competition with other schools at the end of the competition.

We want to get more girls playing rugby and giving the the chance to TRY rugby at school is the best thing we can do to get more girls playing.

We would like to invite any year 9 girls who play Rugby to come along to a training session with the Bucks Developing Player Pathway (DPP) coaches on 12th June 2023. The session will be held at Aylesbury RFC and will run from 6:30pm until 8pm. If attending, please arrive by 6:15pm at the latest, so everyone is ready to start at 6:30pm.

This is not part of any selection process, it is just a chance for the girls who are coming up to U16 next season to meet the DPP coaches and learn more about the player pathway at U16s and beyond.

No need to register, just come along. We hope to see lots of girls there.

It has taken longer than expected but we now are fully up and running.

Starting a charity was definitely a bit more difficult than first expected but we are registered with the Charity Commission, have our bank account set up and have a live website.

We will now be looking to start applying for grants and looking for Corporate partners to help us fund all of the support that we are looking to provide to girls Rugby in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas.
