From 4pm today, we start our virtual cycle to Paris. This is in aid of the opening of the Olympic games in Paris on the 26th of July.

We are simultaneously raising money for the wonderful Alder Hey Children's Charity, an organisation that does amazing work in our region and holds a special place in the heart of our team.

Collectively, our team is embarking on an incredible charity bike ride to raise funds for Alder Hey Children's Charity. Our goal? To ride the distance from the Wirral to Paris on a static bike. That’s over 800 km of peddling power!

Starting Wednesday 24th July, our dedicated team members will take turns on the static bike, pushing themselves to the limit to support a cause close to our hearts. You'll be able to follow along as we cycle around the clock to reach our goal.

Starship Co-founder and CEO, Dave Dargan, has recently shared his thoughts with PBC Today as Labour Leader, Sir Keir Starmer, outlined his vision for housing.

Dave noted his ambition for a ‘combined effort of building traditional and modular homes.’

“As Sir Keir Starmer stated, having a place to call your own is the bedrock of security and aspiration. I’ve been strong in my praise of Labour’s primary focus on growth, and seeing this commitment reflected in Starmer’s intent to reform the UK’s planning regulations is immensely encouraging. Labour’s plan to build over 1.5m homes over the next parliament aims to increase supply, support long-term affordability and boost social housing for those unable to buy their own homes. This aligns with my ambition for a combined effort of building traditional and modular homes.”

We’re at Housing 2024 in Manchester where the industry is coming together to discuss and collaborate. One of our highlights from day one was hearing Nigel Banks from Octopus Energy explaining how they are helping pioneer zero bills homes with a 10 year guarantee. It’s a bold mission that will make a difference to households across the country.

We are working with Nigel and the team at Octopus to supercharge the delivery of zero bills homes across the region.

Today’s International Women in Engineering day is our opportunity to reflect on our changing industry and encourage further inclusivity and diversification.

Our co-founder and chief executive, Dave Dargan, has joined other industry leaders in welcoming the announcement that Liverpool City Council’s government commissioners will be departing from their roles, officially, today.

Dave praised the council’s ongoing work saying, “This transformation highlights the council’s renewed commitment to transparency and ushering Liverpool into a new era.

On day two of UKREiiF we heard from Dr Aileen Jones, Executive Director for Investment and Delivery at Liverpool City Council who shared her insights on regeneration, funding, development, tourism and culture while highlighting how Central Birkenhead and its hinterlands can maximise Wirral’s placemaking strategy and tourism development. Starship sits proudly within these plans, creating inspiring spaces for people to live, work and play.

In the afternoon we learnt of Halton Council’s plans which were centred around investment opportunities in Runcorn and its Freeport sites in Widnes. We finished our day at Liverpool Place Partnership dinner - a great evening with a few words from Stephen Cowperthwaite and Simon Reid.

As a city region, we have so much to look forward to, with Starship playing its part in transforming spaces and places for communities and neighbourhoods to thrive.

We joined the Moore Media last night at the Insider Media Property Awards. It was an inspiring demonstration of the best projects and development teams from across the North West.
