BLACK ARCHIVE 72: SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY / FOREST OF THE DEAD

“Spoilers!”

Just days after being announced as the next showrunner of Doctor Who, Steven Moffat's final story of the first Russell T Davies era is broadcast. In a darkened empty library, the story introduces us to River Song, a mysterious adventurer who might just be telling us exactly what is going to happen to the Doctor over the next six series. But more than that, she might be telling us what Moffat himself thinks about men, women, writing, fear, and the nature of stories.

Settle down with author Dale Smith and this new book, and learn just who invented the bookcase, how we can tell if we're living in a simulation, and why there's no such thing as an individual.

But remember to keep the lights on, and count the shadows ...

Black Archive #69: Midnight ‘You need my voice in particular. Paradise Towers really is ice hot!

Or at least that’s what everyone told themselves at first. But then the youngsters became Kangs, the older ones became Rezzies and the Caretakers forgot who they were altogether.

But as society crumbles in Kroganon’s greatest creation, there’s still room for anarchic wallscrawlers and rebellious caretakers, damaged war veterans and regretful architects, forbidden romances and daring escapes. There’s even a moment spent in a certain infamous temporal Empire.

Perhaps the Towers can be made ice hot again…

I think it's probably time to open the subs window for the Silver Archive!

If you have interesting things to say in an Archive style about genre television shows, now is the time to put together a pitch and send it to us using the [email protected] address.

At this stage, pitches should just comprise of a detailed chapter breakdown of your book - no need to include a writing sample (though you can if you want), and if we like the pitch we'll ask for an example of your writing (pitching and writing, unfortunately, are two different skill sets!).

If you want to see what kind of book we're looking for, I recommend reading one or two of the existing Black, Gold or Silver Archives. Probably the most common reason for rejecting pitches for all the ranges in the past is that people haven't really considered what *kind* of book an Archive should be.
