Due to circumstances outwith our control West Highland Medical Group Morvern Surgery will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 15th August.

All telephone calls will be handled through the West Highland Medical Group Acharacle Surgery.

If your matter is non-urgent we ask for you to wait until Friday morning when Morvern Surgery will be open again.

Prescriptions can be collected prior to 1pm.

Kilchoan Branch Surgery

We are seeing an increase in people presenting at the clinic without an appointment. We would like to remind patients that we operate an appointment system for the Doctor and the Nurse in Kilchoan and that this is not a drop in clinic. The Doctor and the Nurse already have appointments allocated to them on the days they attend and unless they are presented with a medical emergency would not be able to see patients who drop in.

If you require an appointment with the Doctor or Nurse on their respective days please arrange this by telephoning the Acharacle Branch 01967 431231 and an appropriate appointment will be allocated.

Your co-operation with the above would be appreciated.

There is currently a lack of power at the Lochaline branch so no telephones for the time being. All phone lines are transferred to Acharacle. Due to staff shortages at all sites we would ask you to be patient as there may be a delay in the phones being answered this morning. If there is a medical emergency please call 999 thank you

Please be aware there is a scam circulating targeting Telecare users in anticipation of the Landline Digital Switchover.

Scammers are contacting people, claiming they need to sign up for a new Telecare service or pay for a digital Telecare box. Some may even pretend to be from NHS Highland or a local GP practice.

We will never ask you for your bank details over the phone or request payment for new Telecare equipment. The upgrade to our new digital Telecare box is free of charge.

If you receive a suspicious call about your Telecare service, please contact the Telecare team on 01478 614 211

We have been made aware of a scam telephone call in the area. The caller offers a free medical service, and in return asks for the cost of the postage and packing. This is NOT a call from the NHS, and we ask that you do not give out any details.

RESOLVED - - - The IT issues at the Medical Centre in Lochaline are currently being resolved. Our phone lines are extremely busy, if you don’t get through - please keep trying. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are having some IT issues at the Medical Centre in Lochaline, and repeat scripts may take longer to process. We are working very hard and closely with our IT team to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please note -

Due to staff shortages and holidays, the West Highland Medical Centre in Morvern will be closed from 1.30pm on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th February only. Phone calls will be answered and triaged by West Highland Medical Centre in Acharacle, and access to a doctor will be the same as always.

NOTICE - WEST HIGHLAND MEDICAL GROUP
REQUESTS FOR MEDICAL REPORTS - CHANGE TO PRACTICE POLICY

With immediate effect we will no longer perform any Visual Testing when completing medical reports undertaken on a private basis. This includes HGV, ML5 and other sea faring medicals.

In future, patients requesting completion of such forms should arrange for an optician to complete the Visual Testing section in full and then submit the forms to us and arrange a GP appointment for completion of the remaining sections of the form.

As there will now be two charges, one from the optician and one from us, we are currently reviewing our charges for this work. The revised charge will be based on the time taken to complete the form or report. As soon as this has been finalised we will update on this page and on notices in the surgery buildings.

LOCHALINE SURGERY - IMPORTANT

Please note that tomorrow- Wednesday 14 February- the surgery building will be closed from 1pm until 2.30 pm for a staff meeting. During this time you can still telephone the duty doctor if urgent; all routine calls should be left until after 2.30pm.

On Thursday 15th February the practice will be closed after 2pm but patients can telephone as usual.
