Like many I was staggered to hear of Sir Chris Hoy's terminal cancer diagnosis. I am however in awe of his positivity and resilience following that devastating news, qualities that have defined his life and career. The grace he has shown after being told that he has between 2-4 years to live was followed by the news that his lovely wife, Sarra, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of MS. I've met and photographed Sir Chris many times and he is genuinely what you see; an amazing athlete, a nice guy, a good man. Why does thing like this happen to nice people like Chris and his wife - why not me? Would be his answer. I wish Chris, Sarra and their family much happiness in whatever time they have remaining and pray that is longer than what the doctors say.
Like him or loath him Alex Salmond was a political heavyweight and a force to be reckoned with compared to the leaders and members of other political parties. Hi untimely death at only 69 is a tragedy for his family and a great loss to the independence movement.
It's week two of Strictly Come Dancing! Does anyone else use Strictly as a countdown to Christmas?? 👀🎄Here's one of the picture I made for The Pavilion Theatre's ever popular panto, which this year is Beauty and the Beastie! It's going to be 10/10
It seems that the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, have kissed and made up and will reform Oasis for live gigs next year. Here's a couple of pictures from when they last 'kissed and made up' at Balloch Park on Loch Lomond in 1996.

We all know how much Belle loves her books - keep an eye out for her in your school libraries! 📚
Some students receiving their exam results today will be disappointed and feel that they haven't achieved their full potential. However they should remember that there are often other roads to success. I shot pictures yesterday for the launch of the Skills Development Scotland Results Helpline. Reunited for the pictures was student Louise Davidson-Clyne and SDS careers adviser Maxine Scott. Maxine supported Louise to get into her dream photography course when the 18 year old called the Results Helpline last year. Former West Calder High pupil Louise struggled at school because of dyslexia and wasn’t expecting top grades from S6 exams. As Boxer Muhammad Ali once said "You don't lose if you get knocked down; you lose if you stay down."
Here's a really interesting video about creating a unique photograph that really is 'out of this world!' Astronaut and keen photographer Matthew Dominick explains how he set up an amazing self portrait on the International Space Station.
Great fun running away to the Circus today!

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” - Edmund Burke.
Today is Srebrenica Memorial Day which marks the 29th anniversary of the Bosnian genocide in which over 8,000 Muslim men and boys were murdered in the space of just a few days and dumped in mass graves. To this day, a significant number of the victims' remains are still missing.
By coming together to mark Memorial Day, we renew our commitment to stand up to hatred, prejudice and genocide denial, whilst reminding ourselves to be constantly vigilant, that we are all interconnected, and of the the common bonds we have as human beings.
Each year on this day, we remember those who were murdered merely for their identity, those who were victims of hatred. We must never forget the victims of genocide, we must honour the survivors, and we must learn the lessons of Srebrenica.

It's tough at times working for yourself, paying bills, making a profit, marketing yourself and being creative and unique on top of all that. Some days it's easy to get down on yourself. In those moments you do well to remember the 'laughter is the best medicine.' Here's a Thursday post and one from my archive of a joyous Billy Connolly and Lama Yeshe Losal announcing the winning competition entry for the proposed Buddhist retreat on Holy Isle back in 1994. Some 9 years later I went to the Holy Isle and photographed one of the monks in the beautiful gardens that surround the peaceful retreat. Laughter and meditation work for me and hopefully you too. Scotland face Switzerland tonight in their 2nd match of UEFA EURO 2024 championships. After the drubbing we got on Saturday we're hoping for a better result tonight 🤞 was back taking pictures for Asda today of their 'Nanzone' in their superstore in Bearsden. For older members of the 'Tartan Army' not able to travel to Germany Asda has announced the launch of ‘Nanzones’: the first-ever football fanzones designed for elderly people to gather, socialise and enjoy the sport together. Today's 'office' came with stunning views. The Clydeside is not the ship building power house it once was but it does still produce some very fine Combat Ships for the Royal Navy at BAE Systems in Govan. Meanwhile the river and landscape continues to develop and evolve with work on the new Govan-Partick bridge coming along nicely.
Happy Fathers Day to my dear Dad. It's a wonderful thing to be a Dad, a real privilege, as I've learned having become one myself.
I was delighted to be asked to take the cast photos for The Pavilion Theatre pantomime "Beauty and the Beastie" last month. My friend Martin Shields Photography normally does them but was unavailable. As part of the photoshoot we took many different scenarios to market the show up until it opens in December including these ones of Grado and Stephen Purdon getting ready for UEFA EURO 2024. I'm excited to share more of the pictures we made in the coming months.
⚽ Grado and Stephen are ready for tonight's game against Germany at 8 pm.

Great to be working with Asda and Morrow Communications on this fun initiative to combat loneliness. Thanks to the Daily Record for it's great use in todays paper and online.
Asda kicks off new initiative to tackle loneliness in Scotland during summer of sport
· Research reveals more than 1.9 million over 65’s will be watching the biggest football tournament alone this summer
· Asda has launched ‘Nanzones’ - the first football fanzones designed specifically to cater for the older generation
· First Scottish Nanzone at Asda Maryhill
As new research reveals more than 1.9 million over 65’s will be watching the biggest football tournament alone this summer, Asda has announced the launch of ‘Nanzones’: the first-ever football fanzones designed for elderly people to gather, socialise and enjoy the sport together.
With traditional fanzones often overwhelmingly populated by more boisterous crowds, the new dedicated Nanzone spaces have been specially created to cater to the older generation to ensure they don’t end up following the football alone at home.
The launch comes as a result of the retailer’s Togetherness Tracker, which looks at how customers, community groups and colleagues want to support their local communities. According to the poll, 60% of people surveyed think more needs to be done to combat loneliness and social isolation, with the elderly highlighted as the group most in need of support.
To help tackle the issue, Asda is encouraging Community Champions across its Scotland stores to create their own Nanzone events throughout the summer, to engage with local community groups.

Scotland's first 'nan zone' set up to allow elderly to enjoy Euros with pals Pubs are set to be packed to the rafters as punters gather to cheer on Steve Clarke's men in Munich in the first game of the Euros on Friday evening.
Factory Weights, a Scottish Fitness start up, who joined forces with pupils from St Mungo's Academy to share tools to support and to raise awareness of men's mental health. Joined by some of Scotland's leading sport and fitness professionals, pupils from a local East End secondary school, had mini practical sessions with The Brothers In Arms Charity, David Cox of CrossFit AIrdrie, Jan Walker The West End PT and Ryan Docherty On The Ball Academy. With the fitness pros sharing their personal mental health journeys as well as supplying the pupils with a toolkit to support them in day to day life.
Commenting on the Men's Mental Health Event Co Founder of Factory Weights Tom Russell said :
"Men's mental health is something that is still a huge taboo issue, you only have to look at the statistics to see this. We know that exercise can significantly help to reduce the level of stress we experience, as it stimulates the production of endorphins which ultimately makes you feel happier.
We wanted to share some really personal stories and journeys from some very successful fitness professionals, to help showcase both their journeys but also how sport and exercise can be used as a mood lifter for the pupils and to show how honest communication combined with exercise can really help keep stress and depression at bay."
Great to be working with Kimberly Ritchie of Flat White Communications on this very worthy initiative. Thanks to the Herald for using the picture so well.

Some more of my pictures from the excellent in Glasgow.☕️ They have announced that they are expanding their hours to bring a brand-new hazel cafe experience! You can join them every day from 8am for the finest specialty coffee by and freshly baked treats from ☕🥐 Give it a go, it's far better quality coffee and cakes than the high street competition.
I was doing a job at a very special location today, at least special as far as I was concerned. My parents were married in the 'White Church' Drumchapel 62 years ago. My dear Mum passed away 8 years ago but we still miss her every day but today her presence seemed to be close. This beautiful church, St Andrews, to give it its proper name, was built in 1939 on designs by Lancelot H. Ross who had drawn plans in 1937. The church includes Venetian windows. The church was built to replace the original Drumchapel Old Church which was located at 102 Drumchapel Road and was built in 1901. Ross' church was damaged during the Clydebank Blitz of 1941. It was restored after the Second World War.
I'm always looking for a place for a meeting over a cup of coffee. Here's a great new option which if far better than the usual suspects in the city. Just had the most amazing coffee at Hazel restaurant on John Street in Glasgow. This is a great place for a coffee and cake meeting. Beautiful surroundings and great quality coffee, in this case a Hazelnut Mocha with Machina Coffee Roasters coffee and delicious cakes from the wonderful Three Sisters Bake
