This is Jo Dowbor - our candidate for Hornsey Ward. Jo is an Argentine-British HR activist of Polish heritage based in Crouch End. Although she grew up in Argentina, her family has lived in the area for more than ten years. She’s an environmentalist, eco-socialist, anti-imperialist, and co-founder of Greens for Palestine. She has a Bachelor’s degree in History specialised in the Middle East from the Sorbonne, and is about to complete a Master’s degree in International Political Economy at KCL. She works as a conference producer and volunteers as a Green Party officer in Haringey. She’s also fluent in four languages.

“I am standing as the Green Party candidate for Hornsey Ward because I believe Hornsey deserves to be represented by someone who will listen to the needs of those who most struggle. The Green Party possesses the strongest policies, so it’ll be a privilege to put them in place in Hornsey. I want to represent every single person in this area, putting a special emphasis on the unprivileged, the immigrants, the youth, and the minorities that have been neglected by both the Tories and Labour. We deserve a safer, fairer, and greener Hornsey, and I will do everything in my power to provide it.”

Councillor Lorna Jane Russell has been selected as our candidate for the new Hampstead and Highgate seat, which covers the Highgate (Camden) ward, where she lives and serves as a councillor. It also includes her former ward of Fortune Green, which she represented on Camden Council from 2014 to 2022. Outside of politics, she is a trustee at a local community centre in the West Hampstead area.

David is a professional journalist and external communications officer for Haringey Green Party. 💚

“I am standing for Tottenham as I strongly believe that David Lammy and the wider Labour Party have let down members of this community. Their inaction over the horrifying scenes in Gaza and capitulation to unambitious, right-wing ideology does not align with the values that we hold in this constituency. People here want change, and I am a candidate that will deliver it by pushing for progressive, fair and moral policies that keep the most vulnerable in society at heart.”

Want to help your local Green Party in a vitally important way?

You might be surprised to learn that effective leafleting in a target area can mean the difference between winning or losing an election.

This easy, low-pressure activity makes an enormous difference in putting the Green Party at the forefront of voters’ minds as they head to the polls.

And if 2022 is any indication, St Ann’s Ward is going to be a close race.

Also, if you want to get to know members of your local Green Party, this is a great way to do it. There’ll be time to chat at the beginning and an optional lunch at the end!

If you want to join us at Perkyn’s café at 11am on the 31st of March 2024, all you need to do is RSVP on Action Network – link in bio!

We hope to see you there!

#9 Reason to Vote Green 🌿: Tax the Millionaires 💰

In a system where the rich keep getting richer, and the poor get poorer, we’re the only leading party that would tax millionaires.

The Green Party proposes a Wealth Tax on the top 1% - UK individuals with assets of more than £3 million. Taxing the assets of the wealthiest at a rate between 1% and 2% would raise approximately £21 billion to £43 billion a year. Imagine what we could do with that money! Vote Green 💪💚

#8 Reason to Vote Green 🌿: Save the NHS

Our NHS is a national treasure, but it's facing challenges. Let's not stand by and watch it crumble! 🤦‍♀️

Let's turn the dream of comprehensive care into reality! We're ready to invest in the health service like never before. By tackling the root causes of NHS pressures—cracking down on unhealthy ads, boosting mental health in workplaces, and embracing a 21st-century Clean Air Act—we'll secure a brighter future.

Our promise: Publicly provided, funded, and free-access services. We're expanding NHS coverage to include dentistry, prescriptions, and mental health treatments. Costs? Easily recovered from the benefits of a healthier society.

#7 Reason to Vote Green 🌿: We Will Reform the House of Lords 🏛️

Did you know 785 unelected politicians are shaping every law passed through Parliament?

92 lords can shape every law simply because they were born into their title. Successive Labour and Conservative Governments have let this insult to democracy linger well into the 21st century. The Greens will finally reform the House of Lords, turning it into a democratically elected body, chosen by Proportional Representation to promote its independence. Members will be elected for a maximum of 10 years with half of the house being elected every 5 years 🔄
