Together For Good is a platform designed to connect non-profit organisations with businesses and volunteers in our local communities in West Cumberland and Warrington. Sellafield Ltd and its suppliers are committed to building more resilient and thriving communities and this platform will help to maximise the use of volunteers and enable businesses to monitor their impact. If you are a business not linked to Sellafield, you can still have an account, it is not restricted. The only restriction is where the volunteering opportunities are. We have also developed an app for volunteers to have a seamless experience. Sign up now via our website.

The Together For Good platform is designed to connect community organisations with companies in our local community. Companies often have a volunteering allowance and often contractual commitments to support our communities. This has been developed to enable and maximise the support businesses can give to our local communities in West Cumbria and Warrington.

The Together For Good Platform is for:
Organisations – these are non- profit organisations, including charities, community groups, community interest companies, social enterprises and education providers.

Businesses – this can be any business that wants to do volunteering in the defined locations, and be able to manage the impact they are making.

Volunteers – anyone who wants to give their time to support community organisations in the defined locations. You can register and link to your employers account to record your hours during work time, you can also register with no links to a business to record your hours you do in your own time.

Did you know that you do not need to be a registered charity? But you do need to be a non-profit organisation that delivers a service to the benefit of those in West Cumbria and Warrington to be able to utilise the Together For Good platform.

Can you have multiple opportunities live on the Together For Good platform?

Yes, there is no limit to how many requests you can have at one time. The more variety we have for potential volunteers the better. Having opportunities listed also puts you on peoples radar and makes them aware of your organisation. You should aim to always have at least one opportunity listed at any one time. When setting up an opportunity the form will require you to provide a description of the role / project you are asking for support with. You should describe the task that you are wanting a volunteer to do, be as specific as you can. You will also need to define what skills you are looking for and a guideline of how many hours you need for each skillset. You should include whether it needs to be delivered in person or if it can be done remotely.

Together For Good will be in attendance at the Cumbria CVS Volunteering event on Thursday 6th June. The event is being held at the Solway Hall between 12-4pm. f you would like to talk to charities and community groups and find out about volunteering opportunities, please just pop along, there's no need to register. Meet Luke Richardson, Head of Social Impact at Jacobs.

Jacobs is one of Sellafield’s key supply chain partners. Luke was a driving force behind the timebank project at Sellafield whereby supply chain partners can commit to supporting social impact by committing corporate volunteering hours into Timebank. Timebank has been integrated into Together for Good.

Luke said this is a fantastic tool, suppliers have visibility of where third sector organisations need support and can target their volunteering time. The monitoring and reporting functions will really help to manage and demonstrate the impact we have in our local communities at a contract level. For companies like ours with multiple contracts and commitments, this function is very beneficial.

Moving forward, Luke will be supporting the team to identify high impact volunteering projects and encourage suppliers to get involved.

Introducing Gemma Leadbetter CPFA, the Chief Operating Officer at BEC. Gemma has been integral to the inception of Together For Good and eagerly anticipates the profound impact it will have on both organisations and individuals alike.

As a volunteer Trustee myself I understand how difficult it can be to access the knowledge, skills and resources needed but also how rewarding it is to support organisations that are making a real difference. It's an investment in your community.

The social pillar roundtable was formed about two years ago, trying to align and join forces with our partners that were working on our social value plans.

During a session about a year ago, we realised that charities lacked visibility and activity consistency. As a result, social impact managers struggled to communicate volunteering options across the business to fulfill social value commitments.

This led to the idea of creating a platform connecting charities, the supply chain, and Sellafield. With a website and mobile app, everyone gains real-time information about charities’ needs and easy access to volunteering opportunities.
Luke Richardson and Rav Chunilal helped me in the initial phase to assess if that would be achievable before the project was handed over for development to the capable hands of Tracey West.

Thanks to the dedication of Tracey West, Gemma Leadbetter, and our partner Nisyst, the platform exceeded expectations. Special thanks to Joe Blakeley from BEC for his exceptional designs and logo creation!
