So I’ve been reeeally quiet on social media for a whole number of reasons… life is very good at allowing me to procrastinate!
However, I am dedicating more time to launching all these lovely new products I’ve been designing over the past year and haven’t actually launched yet! And to be more present on social media again, and emailing.

WE’RE BACK!

A lot of our stuff is still in a container on a boat in the Med somewhere but we are officially back in the UK again after our posting abroad to Cyprus! ☀️

The weather is being very kind and breaking us into the UK climate gently 😂 Though it’s been months and months since we’ve seen rain so quite excited at the prospect of a cooler wetter week.

Over the next week or so, more and more of our items will be coming back online as we begin to get sorted. Still waiting for sewing machines and printers to make it back to us, along with some stock. We’ve got loads of new products to launch over the next few months so keep you eyes peeled!

It’s been an amazing year away, but it’s SO good to be home! 🇬🇧🇨🇾

Well, I say that, it’s 26 degrees in Cyprus today so it feels like summer here… what’s it like in the UK today??

We’ve been super quiet on social media lately. I have been enjoying keeping business low key whilst enjoying the perks of a year abroad! We’ve got our big move back to the UK coming up in a few months so I’ve actually only got about 6 weeks before British Babies gets packed up again for it’s 5th move in 5 years 🤣😵‍💫

So if you’re after anything over the next couple of months, get your orders in and be organised as we’ll be unable to take any orders for about 8 weeks depending on how speedy our shipping is!

It’s been a while since our little fluffy penguin babies have had a space in our feed… and with Christmas coming up it’s seemed like a perfect time!

Speaking of Christmas… our cut off dates for pre-Christmas delivery are going to be earlier than usual this year (being in Cyprus) - it’ll be Fri 12th Nov for printed muslins and 30th November for everything else.

Our garment printer is still sadly out of action so some of our gorgeous personalised vests and new baby grow plans are currently on hold ☹️

We have 3 new Christmas prints launching in the next 24-48 hours so then you can get your skates on and get your Christmas prints ordered before next Friday!!

I’m really missing my dog today!! 😢 She’s enjoying her retirement in Norfolk but now the weather is cooling (a little 🥵) in Cyprus and I’m seeing a few more dogs about, it’s really making me miss her!
We had words that she wasn’t allowed to depart for doggy heaven whilst we were away and so far she’s behaving like a puppy for grandma despite being an aging old lab 🤣 We’re 1/6 through our time here so I’m sure it’ll fly by before I get sloppy kisses again soon. If she still loves me for leaving her…😬

I very much feel like the world needs more love right now. It's heart-breaking to see such desperate scenes in Afghanistan. As a military family, we have and continue to experience a huge amount of separation, including over a year's worth of tours in Afghanistan. As a mother, to see scenes of young babies, children, young adults and parents so desperate for help, they seriously risk their lives, it actually hurts inside.

And the majority of us can only sit and watch it unfold in despair. We've hardly seen daddy this week as he is doing his bit. So we are trying to do ours too. We'll be getting little packs together for people who have had to flee at such short notice. Failing that (a little tricky here logistics-wise), supporting some of the charities doing great work on the ground to help them.

I'm also deeply saddened by the huge amounts of rubbish and plastic that seems to plague the island here- in the sea, on the beaches, in the bushes. The children and I instinctively want to pick it all up. So once we've got all the gear (and no idea), we will safely start picking and sorting. Though also need to wait until the temperature drops a little or we might melt!!

I love seeing all the unusual baby names on the orders for our personalised muslins.

As a person with a fairly unusual name (or it certainly was 30 years ago), I always felt left out that personalised items never had a 'Willow'!

It's so lovely now that it's so much easier to get personalised items for babies, children & adults - I wish I had gotten a personalised muslin for each of my babies when they were tiny! 🤣🙄

It's official, we are back up and running again. For those of you who might have missed any previous posts explaining... let me catch you up;

British Babies is run by me... Willow 👋🏻 As well as being an entrepreneur, I am a military wife and mum of three. We were posted to a very hot and sunny Cyprus last month - our first posting aboard (though our 8th military move) and it's fair to say it was the biggest, most complex, stress-inducing thing we have ever done!
I'm still ironing out a few complications to being out here so some of our items will either on a bit of a long delivery timeframe, or very limited stock. But we've tested our deliveries and I can get orders out to my lovely customers within a week. Getting stock to me is whole different issue.... 🙄
I'm hoping to take things easy out here, use it as a time to reflect on British Babies, bit work on our website etc, but most importantly, enjoy the opportunities on our doorstep out here ☀️

It's been a while since I've talked about the benefits of O R G A N I C so here it is...

(I find these facts incredibly interesting and now I only ever buy organic cotton where I can)

🌿 No toxic chemicals are used in the growing of organic cotton. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses 88% less water and 62% less energy. Conventional cotton uses about 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of pesticides.

💦 By 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages. But organic cotton is 80% rain-fed, which reduces pressure on local water sources. The absence of chemicals also means that water is cleaner and safer. Cotton is often grown in water-scarce areas using irrigation and it takes 2,700 liters of water to make a conventional cotton t-shirt.😳

🌾 Growing organic cotton keeps farmers and their families safe. They are not exposed to toxic chemicals in the field or through their food and water supply.

MOST IMPORTANTLY 💸 as consumers we must remember.... When you buy organic cotton you are investing in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil and farmer livelihoods. The price for organic cotton is therefore sometimes, but not always, higher. However, with demand on the rise, more choices will become available.⁠

As a business we could buy cheaper raw materials and cheaper fabric but we choose not to. We choose sustainability over profit. We choose to try make the world a better place and not encourage fast, cheap fashion. You won't see multi-buy offers from us. 🌎⁠
