A very happy belated birthday to the beautiful Hemsley. 🎂

I photographed Hemsley as a newborn baby, so it was lovely to see her come back into the studio to celebrate that all important first birthday, We had to put the cake smash off for a few weeks as she had been a little poorly, but she was absolutely worth the wait.

Hemsley took the cake smash incredibly seriously, making sure she had tasted every element of the cake and almost getting cross with me for the suggestion she smash it up. But as you can see she soon got into the swing of things.

Cake smashes are a fantastic way to celebrate a first or second birthday. I recommend booking at least 3mths before your little one's birthday to make sure both me and my cake maker are available. Cake smashes can be classic and simple (like Hemsley's) or themed to whatever theme you would like.

A bit late in sharing Oscar's birthday portrait this year.

He is very into his superheroes at the moment with Guardians being his favourite. So I couldn't resist surprising him with this image. To say he loved it is an understatement!

Mummy free days!

When you’re a mum it’s easy to get swept up with devoting all your time & energy to your wee ones. It took me longer than it should have to realise that taking time out just for you isn’t selfish, it’s an investment in your own wellbeing & makes you a better mum because of it.

So here I am (again!) at Warner Bros Studio Tour by myself for a day, enjoying the world of Harry Potter, & only having to worry about myself. 😁

She did it again!

The wonderful Sugar Mum Fairy yet again smashed it out the park for my little dude’s birthday. He is obsessed with Guardians of the Galaxy (no idea why as he’s never seen the movie 🤪). He had a scrummy lemon 🍋 birthday cake & also gorgeous chocolate 🍫 cupcakes for his party, all themed as he requested.

Good evening all. I hope everyone had a great bank holiday weekend. We’re just back from a lovely long weekend away in Cornwall. We were super lucky with the weather & had some fantastic adventures. I’ll be replying to all messages shortly so please bear with me.

Milk bath Monday 🛁

Are you looking for an alternative to a cake smash? Why not consider a milk bath?

Perfect for babies 1-2yrs old. These can be decorated in your choice of flowers, fruit or shells/starfish. No problem if baby has a milk allergy - we can use oilatum instead.

Apologies for the radio silence the last few weeks but we’ve been away enjoying a much needed family holiday. 😎☀️🌊 We then came back home & my Cumbrian family arrived for 6 days. Then it was back-to-school prep.

So the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of fun (& a lot of laundry 🤪) but I’m finally back & looking forward to getting back in the studio.

The best part of my job is welcoming little one's back in the studio that I have photographed as babies & welcoming families back as they grow. So what an absolute treat for me this week to welcome back Grace who I photographed almost 3yrs ago as a newborn along with her new baby sister Raya.

This gorgeous girl was so very chilled & only cried when she was hungry. She followed exactly the same pattern as her big sister - awake for parent/family photos, asleep for most of the solo photos & waking up just at the end of the session. We had great fun creating images that complemented her big sister's photos so that Mum & Dad can get them up on the wall (music to my ears when I hear my work is being displayed). ❤

That's why parents who have lost a baby before 24 weeks of pregnancy in England can now apply for an official baby loss certificate.

This is a voluntary service we’re introducing as part of the and to support grieving parents and acknowledge their pain.

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous wee one recently. She certainly put me through my paces - although here she is sleeping like an angel so you wouldn't have known it.

Often clients worry about whether their baby will sleep for the session & not all babies do, they're individual little people after all. However we can still capture precious memories of your newborn baby.

First newborn of 2024 & what an amazing start to the year! ❤

Little Mabel wasn't actually due until after New Year's but decided she wasn't going to miss out on all the festivities so made an early appearance on Christmas Eve. She came to see me at just 13 days new & brought her big sisters along too.

This was an especially lovely session for me as I photographed her big sister as a newborn baby some 8yrs ago, and see her every year for her Christmas photos. It's always lovely to watch families grow and it's clear this little lady is going to be enormously loved.

Mabel absolutely rocked her session and only woke up for a feed halfway through. I just had to share this gorgeous sneak peek of her in my wooden heart bowl.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Before I sign off to spend some much needed time with my family I wanted to pop on to wish all of my followers, & past, present & future clients a very Merry Christmas & a happy & healthy New Year.

This year I am very excited to spend time with my brother & family from 'up north' - something I don't often get to do due to the distance. I have no doubt there will be lots of eating, drinking & Lego building in the next few days.

I also like to take this time to remember all those we have lost over the years & like to think at Christmas time especially that they are near. My thoughts are with all of those who lost someone this year & will be spending the first Christmas without them. ❤

Next year my diary is already looking quite full. I also want to continue on my digital art journey with the help of https://www.facebook.com/lifeofaivax. My Christmas card this year is from my monthly subscription & although it might have taken around 10hrs to do I loved every minute.

I will be offline for the next week to enjoy the festive season. I hope however you are spending Christmas that you have a magical time & I hope that 2024 makes all your dreams come true. 🎅🦌⛄
