Matt and Mario are cycling from London to Amsterdam 🤯🚴🏻‍♂️

That’s 350 miles with the aim of doing it in 4 days all in aid of 💙

To put that into perspective that’s just shy of 14 marathons - or cycling from Goodson to Anfield 390 times!

Today is all about the planet and raising awareness for the small steps we can do to help look after it a bit more 🌱

At Bean we are super committed to lessening our impact on the environment 🤩

Here are some of the small ways we are helping to make a bigger difference:
🪴 50p off your drink when you bring in a reusable cup
🪴 One van that delivers to our stores and wholesale customers to keep our CO2 and coffee miles down
🪴 We upgraded our roaster to a which has 80% fuel savings and less greenhouse gasses in each roast
🪴 We source our beans either from farms that are committed to sustainable farming practices
🪴 All our take away packaging is made from recyclable, compostable or biodegradable materials and we are well in the way to phasing out all plastic
🪴 At the end of the day if we have food that is going to go in the bin we use the .uk app to sell the food at a discounted rate so it doesn’t go in the bin
🪴 We are working with who are conducting regular audits and helping us make sure we are implementing the most sustainable practices we can

☕️ ROCHDALE: Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday CLOSED, Monday 9am-4pm
☕️ All our other stores will be closed Friday-Monday for the long weekend!

It’s almost been a year since we retired our 15kg Petroncini, which we had since we started roasting our own beans in 2015, and started using a 35kg Loring Kestrel!

🏃 Upgrading to a bigger roaster has meant we can roast more coffee in less time, meaning we have more time for sourcing and quality control, and can keep up with demand!

📈 We can now track and monitor roast profiles more accurately, insuring each batch is consistent with the next.

📉 The degassing period for beans roasted on a Loring is a lot slower compared to traditional, this is due to the oxygenless environment the beans are roasted in - meaning your beans stay fresher for longer!

♻️ We are able to lessen our impact on the environment! Compared to conventional roasters, in one roast the Loring has 80% fuel savings and reduced greenhouse gasses!

As the sun is setting earlier this year we will be sticking to our normal opening hours in Liverpool ONE during Ramadan ✨

The clocks are changing on the 31st March, so we will keep this in mind and plan accordingly for those last couple of weeks during this time 🫶
